Hi all,
I have been searching the net for Exhaust sytems for my '07 s2r800. Be buggered if I can find the full Termignoni system i.e. air filter ECU etc. Are there any comparable brands that perform as good. Can anyone set me straight?
Hi Iain,
I know that George & Shaunfrom D'Moto have contacts who they source........mainly termis though......But i am sure someone in here will pipe up and give you helpful advice......hang in there, by tomorrow you will be innundated with suggestions mate.....
Brian
Don't just think Termi, there are so many more options than just a set of Termi's for you bike.
You could ask what Carbon Imports could get for you.
But a short list of brands you could look at.
Sil Moto
MIVV (my fav)
Akropovic
Spark
Zards
Arrows
Boom Tubes
QuatDBox exhaust. Carbon Imports have 'em. (I wouldn't be visiting carbonimports right now if I were you, it's sorta been owned by pesky h4x0rs and is trying to deliver malware.)
Power Commander ECU on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ducati-Power-Commander-723-411-Ducati-S2R-800-2003-2005-/160525290076) for $260
Voila!
Yep forgot about QuatDBox.
Does the owner know his site is being attacked?
The '07 was sold in the US as a EURO2 (emission standards) bike.
In Europe it was sold as a EURO3, including the O2 sensor on/near the udder.
Check your bike for EURO2/EURO3 identification.
The EURO3 runs too lean to accept open exhaust. It needs some kind of fuel/tuning device.
The EURO2 might run ok with slip ons.
EURO3 runs great with DP ECU, open air filter box, cat removed and slip ons.
+ 3-4bhp and + 8-10Nm [thumbsup]

Pretty sure he would, it's down for maintenance -But still serving the malwarez (or so my browser tells me).

Mmm. exhausty. ;)
G'Day
Staintunes,
Mid pipe is Moto-One...no longer available.
They tuck in nice and tidy.

Where would one find said information? ;D
If there is an exhaust sniffer (O2 sensor) it's a EURO3.
If I remember correctly, it's attached just ahead of the udder and looks a little like a spark plug.
Nuggethead,
There are still more manufacturers that have not been mentioned above ... but from what I understand some may no longer be producing them for such an 'old bike'. This may explain your difficulty in readily finding termis ... it doesn't mean they are not out there.
But back to your question ... you have asked for systems 'comparable' to termis that perform 'as good' - what do you mean by this?
Comparable in looks, fit, feel, finish, quality, cost, sound, effects on power or just simplicity? The same sort of criteria can be applied to what you consider similar performance.
There are tuning options now available so you are no longer obligated to opt for the full termi system ... and it comes down to preferences for the criteria I mentioned above. You just may have to piece together your own system - which may be exactly what you want or it may scare the hell out of you.
Performance is an interesting thing. I think when I changed my exhaust it actually slowed me down (for a while at least) ... because it sounded like I was going faster [laugh]. That coupled with (in most cases) only a couple of horsepower difference (remember we are talking about the mighty 800 here) probably makes any 'on bike' comparison for mere mortals a highly subjective thing unless there was something seriously wrong with the 'before' or 'after' ... but it is easy to see improvements in order to justify your expense.
Hi Guys
Apologies for the website being down, my guys are working on it... we can source Zard, Spark and Quat D exhausts, each of these make a nice system for the S2R800, just depends on your taste and preferences.. the ECU can be reflashed to suit the new exhaust, so don't stress too much about not having an ecu like the Termi's do.. if you want some more info & pricing please PM me..

Wow guys - some great info - sorry I appeared to drop of the radar after my post - been hectic n no real joy spared for bike stuff - back on track now n after reading all posts ha! yeh I'm a little confused but now know what to consider.
Firstly, I am certainly after an improvement in performance - that's # 1 priority - whether I can justify spending the cash for an additional couple of horsepower will secondly come down to quality - I never skimp on this.
Betty - you mentioned simplicity - I think of this in regards to looks - I don't want things to look to busy - just flow with the rest of the bike. I would also like to fit the pipes if at all possible. ECU stuff would be seen to by other trusted sources.
Matty - thanks for the overview of brands - I've been checking out pics and vids.
I'll be getting in touch with the guys at Dmoto and will get back to you all on feedback.
I've always liked the look of the Termis - I'm not into to much bling though and like the fit of the termis I have seen.
Not to keen on the Exbox or Quad system - I want to get rid of the boat anchor that is my current system â€" these types are not that much different from what I can see.
I've checked out the Boomtubes â€" I'm well impressed â€" can anyone tell me if these would be legal in Oz?
Nuggethead :-)

Thanks mate - A very valid response - how do many get around this then? Any suggestions on the least illegal or most accepted conversions.

least illegal , is that a valid term ? ;)
maybe staintunes which come legal with welded in baffles , but are also available with removeable baffles
gives you best of both worlds i guess depending on your situation
all our exhausts are available with Cats & DB Killers, is an option, but will make the exhaust legal
fixed it for ya Michael...

Most (if not all) of us will have issue with the fitted exhausts on our bikes if really scrutinised. I can't recall a time in recent memory where anyone has had an issue (in NSW anyways)
Thanks mate... not necessarily boring, just a little more restricted, but still legal.. not many aftermarket exhausts are legal in Australia.. even the Termi's are labelled "off road use or not for road use".. why do you think Ducati will not fit a system to a new bike before delivery.. they will deliver the bike and you can ride it around the block and drop it off to have pipes fitted...
As all our systems come from Italy, they are not allowed to sell an exhaust in europe without the Cats & DB Killers.. a lot of them are starting to make systems with removeable cats as well as DB Killers...

If'n you want better performance, think about a PC3 and open airbox, made a huge difference to the power delivery on my s2r800. I also cored the mufflers to make it sound like a real Ducati. (easy job) Allow around 250-300 bucks on top of the PC3 though for the dynotune. If you want to get rid of the bladder, you could put in a mid pipe.
Hi Brimo,
Sounds very feasible - do you have a photo (or video)of your setup? Be great to see what it looks/sounds like as I have the same bike model (06 here).
Nugget Head :-)
These are not my pics, however they do give you an idea of whats inside, you just cut about 10mm off of the rear end of the inner steel muffler and pop rivet the back bit back in.
You'll need a dremel to cut the welds inside the rear tailpipe.

The exhaust just looks stock from the outside, here is the link to the how to thread...http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=505.0 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=505.0)
Open airbox is easy, just bend up a piece of 25mm aluminium strip from bunnings. The velcro straps have now been replaced by small diameter bungee cord.
