Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: Statler on March 29, 2011, 09:20:34 AM so is everyone happy enough to be riding or should we do the 2ND DMF GIVEAWAY?
Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: Timmy Tucker on March 29, 2011, 09:28:17 AM Except for one quick 30 min jaunt in the cold rain a couple days ago [puke], it's only been about a week for me. Already going stir crazy. Heading out for a 3 hr loop thru nat'l forest as soon as laundry finishes up. Weather has been nice for about 3 weeks and then it turned shitty again last week. [bang] 40's and rain until today. Rain/snow/t-storms for the next week. :'(
Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: Timmy Tucker on March 29, 2011, 09:37:23 AM so is everyone happy enough to be riding or should we do the 2ND DMF GIVEAWAY? Does the giveaway include a dual sport bike of some sort? Cause I've been entertaining myself with South American ride reports over at ADV (bad idea, btw. May cause serious discontentment). Imma stir up some serious civil unrest if I don't get some good rides in soon. Have actually been pondering selling the duc to get a small ds bike and some camping gear. I need to get out of the make the beast with two backsing house, asap. Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: corey on March 29, 2011, 10:08:18 AM It's been since november for me :( It's been a long long winter.
Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: WarrenJ on March 29, 2011, 10:33:08 AM I got about 150 miles in until we got 10" of snow last week. Since then, morning lows have been in the single digits. I had to resort to skiing this last weekend to maintain some semblance of sanity.
Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: gregrnel on March 29, 2011, 10:42:47 AM Skiing=sanity in the winter. Too bad I'm 3.5 hours from Granite Peak :P
Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: akmnstr on March 29, 2011, 11:49:56 AM I miss skiing! Here in coastal Texas we just ride year round :-[

the good weather has begun... which of course means rain begins tomorrow. but that doesn't stop anyone here, does it? ;D Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: seevtsaab on March 29, 2011, 04:59:31 PM Still 18" snow in boilerplate form in front of my storage garage.
New tires are mounted but the wheels are still in the house. My skis are getting a workout! Our road hasn't thawed out, still several weeks of mud to look forward to before the Monster comes out. edit: - yes the season came to an early an abrupt halt early November. You know how you park your bike and didn't realize that was the last ride for the year? Serenity now serenity now.... SERENITY NOW! Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: 671M900 on March 29, 2011, 05:09:31 PM It's 83f here...
for the last couple hundred years. Although the near 90% humidity kills it... Sometimes Title: Re: I Heart March. There's no spring!! So riding quickly gets to be a sweaty experience....and it's dry heat too so you can get dehydrated before you realize it. :-X Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: IZ on March 29, 2011, 07:41:58 PM Because this forum really picks up [beer] Thought you guys in Pittsburg were tough?! Get out there and ride!! [cheeky] Funny..We'll be nearing the end of the tolerable riding season here in AZ.. for most riders. [evil] Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: DoubleEagle on March 29, 2011, 08:02:47 PM Sunday it's suppose to get all the way up to 51.
Rain and Snow showers up 'til then. Mostly all Rain next week. This may be one of those cold wet Springs . We had one about 8 years ago . It didn't stop raining or get out of the low 60s until mid June. I have a friend in the Swimming Pool Business, I really felt bad for he and his family, good thing they sold other things. It's been a long, cold Winter. I haven't ridden since sometime in November. Dolph :( Title: Re: I Heart March. My dad had a co-worker at GM in Lansing who rode everyday..even in snow! I didn't believe it until he sent a few pics. DIE HARD!! [laugh]Rain and Snow showers up 'til then. Mostly all Rain next week. Post by: Jarvicious on March 31, 2011, 11:19:10 AM I already put 500 or so miles on the girl this "spring", but that's only because Missouri weather is bat shit insane. From 80 degrees to 25 and snowing in two days. WTF?
Riding for the next month or so may be an issue, however, due to certain bike ailments as a result of having parked it in a ditch at around 80. Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: Timmy Tucker on March 31, 2011, 12:32:36 PM I've managed 3k since I got the bike in July. 2500 of it since New Years.
Riding for the next month or so may be an issue, however, due to certain bike ailments as a result of having parked it in a ditch at around 80. Damn dude. When did you do that shit? You ok? Details man, details. Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: Jarvicious on April 01, 2011, 08:20:56 AM Not much to say. Pushed a corner too fast, stood the bike up to avoid a lowside and slammed into a drain culvert and took a pretty good tumble. Oddly enough, the bike is totally rideable. Broken headlight glass and a few pounds of dirt. I escaped with naught more than a separated a/c joint and a few bruises (including my ego). Not too bad overall for my first crash, but it's still embarassing.
Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: WarrenJ on April 01, 2011, 09:11:25 AM Glad you're uprignt!!
Title: Re: I Heart March. Post by: Timmy Tucker on April 01, 2011, 09:44:22 AM Damn. Glad you're ok. Crashing definitely did more damage to my ego than anything else. Especially since I had witnesses that made fun of me. [laugh]

Post by: Jarvicious on April 02, 2011, 06:50:53 AM When I got my helmet off and kind of assessed the situation, everyone was takin care of the bike and asking me how I was etc. When we did a playback of the crash and figured that I had been ejected from the bike (via the drain culvert) I remember saying "cool. how much air did I get?". Odd looks commenced followed by "you just make the beast with two backsed up your Ducati and all you're concerned about is your hang time?"
I made sure they double checked for concussion at the ER :) I also apparently let my buddy take numerous pictures of me in the less than flattering gowns (those little make the beast with two backsers just don't look right on a guy that's 6'4" and 220) and post them immediately on the local board. I have great friends :) |
