Title: S4RS Termi "Shortie" install question
Post by: skidoodlehopper on June 13, 2008, 09:50:20 AM
Hey all,

Just installed the Termi shortie on my S4RS. Anyone know what the bracket is for? It didn't come with any instructions.

Also, I took it out for a ride last night and it doesn't seem to pull as hard down low. Can I hook up a PCIII to the stock ECU and have a custom map made or do I also need the DP ECU to run a PCIII?

Thanks!

yea, i don't know what the bracket is for either.... it's just sitting in my toolchest.

PC3 + DP ECU. I gained 18hp and 10ft.lbs torque with a custom map on my shortie Termi.

If you have a PCIII why would you also get a DP ECU?

I heard that in order to run a PCIII you need to replace the stock ECU with the DP ECU. The stock ECU takes readings from the O2 sensor and causes problems for the PCIII. The DP ECU eliminates the O2 sensor all together. Anyone know if this is actually correct?

Yup, otherwise there wouldnt be a thread pregnant doging about the only solution to our fueling issues is DP ECU/ or RB unit.

on a side note, does your bike die out for no reason sometimes when the rpm's are on the low end? mine did, cuz it was running so lean, prior to the re-map. after the pc3 and mapping, all is well now.

No, its running perfect...no backfiring or hesitation. The only difference is that it feels like i've lots some low end grunt and its a tag deeper then stock. i have the baffle still in so maybe that has something to do with it?

yea, i felt that loss as you're explaining when i took the mufflers out completely for a couple of days (just ran it with the udder). my bike was really lean however and it would die out on occasion, in bay area, california climate.

Ahhhh, of course.  I wasn't thinking about the O2 sensor, since my S4R doesn't have one...

Did you fit a de-cat pipe or is that still with the udder?
