Title: Kart night at summit?
Post by: Slide Panda on March 31, 2011, 05:55:48 AM
Todays Grupon is an evening of karting out a Summit point kart for $65. It's the Washington circuit at Summit point - they have some 250 carts that can hit a (claimed) 78.

The grupon is for an evening session, 5-9 pm any Friday or Sunday evening in April or May. Anyone game for a CAM kart night?!

Details from the listing:

Racecar driving is one of the few sports that can be practiced in miniature, unlike miniature discus throwing, which just results in a yard full of shattered Sade CDs. Suit up for facsimile speed with today's Groupon: for $65, you get a go-kart membership and one evening of Kart 'Til You Puke racing (a $160 total value) at Summit Point Kart in Summit Point. Available Kart 'Til You Puke dates include every Friday and Sunday throughout April and May from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Outfitted with a fleet of Indy 500â€"fit futurist kartsâ€"including the Sodi RX250, which can reach speeds of up to a whopping 78 mphâ€"Summit Point Kart invites wind-cravers of all ages to put the miniature pedal to the miniature metal during authentic NASCAR-esque races around a sweeping half-mile track. The Kart 'Til You Puke package doles out an evening of karting, making the line between reality and Mario Kart that much blurrier. Consult the calendar for more information (hours may vary depending on the day).

Membership at this high-octane association comes with more perks than a member's only jacket, as new pledges receive a sporty Summit Point Kart T-shirt along with a spot on the guest list to special events and programs at the track. Membership also dramatically reduces the price of future sessions to quell the shakes of a need-for-speed addiction. Summit Point Kart provides cardholders with a full-face helmet, a head sock, and a driving suit. See the FAQ section for more driving information.

I wonder how the karting there compares to Allsports.  Looks like fun.  I think I would be up for that.

More fun I think. .5 mile outdoor track with faster karts, with 11 minute heats. I've done allsports (once) and it sure was fun, but being indoor it's a small ass track.

Okay, sounds good.  So, where's the link to the groupon?

Hold tight... looks like the text was a bit misleading and you need to purchase for specific date in advance.

And hot times for folks?

I would probably prefer to do it in late April or in May.  Hopefully the weather will have gotten better by then to considering this would be outdoors.  I have a couple of friends that would probably be on board also.

Good deal.  Not sure I can swing a Friday but I'll go on a Sunday I think.
