Title: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: tigre on April 03, 2011, 10:45:55 AM Round 2 coming soon to a racetrack near you.
I'll be racing Open Superbike, Open Twins, and Formula Pacific. Schedule suggests Open Twins around 11:00am, Formula Pacific around 2pm, and Open Superbike around 3:15pm. I'll be in garage 11 -- next to the break in the garage buildings. (the numbers on the ground will say 21/22 -- don't ask). Cheers! Steve Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: mostrobelle on April 03, 2011, 12:08:06 PM I *think* we can make this one. Might not stick around for FP due to work obligations, but we're definitely there in the a.m. [thumbsup]
Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: tigre on April 03, 2011, 03:21:39 PM The Open Twins race should be good. FP will be interesting at the front of the pack -- those guys have been waiting to beat on each other.

I didn't see it, the AFM changed the schedule. Thanks!
I like this better. Though I'd like it better still if Open Twins were the lunchtime podium celebration. I have yet to stand on the box for that... but alas, Open Production gets the nod. Day was good today. Some small changes to the bike on Friday that made a big difference for today. Feeling comfortable and riding very very consistently in the 44's. GoGo is a bit adrift, but we know he'll be fast tomorrow when it counts. Should be a good battle! Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: tigre on April 18, 2011, 06:47:58 AM Thanks! Mat and I have a long history... of me passing him on the last lap of the race :) I did it to him a bunch of times at Thill last year going into 14. When I saw him up ahead with a lap to go I told myself I needed to try for it.
You'll notice I was courteous, too. I left him almost a foot of pavement at the apex of 9. :) Nice pass there at the end tigre! Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: mostrobelle on April 18, 2011, 10:51:34 AM bummer about the get-off, but the rest of the day was a pretty good success I'd say! We hadn't planned on staying for all three races, but our friend was having a really good time, so we reluctantly obliged. [cheeky] Rounded out the event with a burger and too many margaritas at Zeitgeist. What a great Sunday. [thumbsup]

Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: Drunken Monkey on April 18, 2011, 12:14:49 PM Crash??
What happened? Results? Etc? This thread is worthless with just pics. Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: Spidey on April 18, 2011, 12:30:45 PM Here, I'll do the race report for him. ;D
Open Twins. After an uncharacteristically good start in which he held 3rd position, Tigre passed GoGo for 2nd place on lap 2 (I think) of Open Twins. Coming out of 9 on Lap 3, he got on the gas, lost the rear and lowsided (same place where I shot myself to the moon and broke all of my shit). I gotta tell ya, considering how most crashes happen at that spot, he was lucky. GoGo--who was right behind him--avoided hitting him. The tigerbike had really, really minor damage. A little bit of scuffing on the fairing, the bar end and fork slider ground down a bit, and the rearset peg toasted. Really minor. Tigre didn't look hurt, and said he was ok. Formula Pacific. He was in the back and then passed a buncha people. That video doesn't even begin to capture how banzai tigre's last lap T9 pass looked in person. I've still got wood from it. I left before Race 11, which in which I assume tigre took 1st place, was offered a factory GP ride, and won $700,00 in prize money Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: Spidey on April 18, 2011, 12:39:47 PM Oh yeah, almost forgot. No crash damage to Steve's helmet either.

Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: Drunken Monkey on April 18, 2011, 02:29:16 PM Bummer about the crash, but nice seeing that pass [thumbsup]
GoGo--who was right behind him--through a superhuman effort managed to heroically avoid hitting him and will post 8 pages of blather about it later. There, I fixed it for you ;D Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: tigre on April 18, 2011, 10:23:38 PM [laugh] Thanks, man. That made my last two days. [thumbsup]
Bummer about the crash, but nice seeing that pass [thumbsup] There, I fixed it for you ;D Title: Re: AFM Round 2 -- April 17 @ Infineon/Sears in Sonoma Post by: AJ on April 18, 2011, 11:43:15 PM We had a blast watching you race, Tigre, especially your crazy effing passes, you've got mad skillz!! We had to run right after the third race, so we missed the podium bacchanalia, but I like your new look, especially the blue & green stickers - I'm guessing those came from Spidey's cargo shorts.
Hope to catch your next race too [thumbsup] p.s. Z in the helmet is so freakin cute. As was the tiger pajamas boy. Do you actually know him, or is he just a big fan of tigers?
