Title: AFM Racing - Infineon - 17 April - Who's In?
Post by: desmoquattro on April 10, 2011, 01:17:15 PM
Our very own Tigre will be racing 16-17 April at Infineon. I'm thinking about riding up to watch...perhaps with a bit of fun in Marin beforehand. Anyone interested?

I am trying to arrange to go, but I will probably have to cage it with my youngest kid in tow.

Much as I'd like to ride over, I have some issues:
a) I'm a noob, I take it slow in the twisties and wouldn't want to hold y'all up.
b) Mr. AJ's Monster 900 still won't start. However, the mystery electrical issue has taken a back seat to...
c) his newly purchased ~2000 SV650 needs a new chain & sprocket stat, discovered while on a ride through Napa, so the SV was left at our friend's house up there.  Parts were ordered, but UPS failed to leave them as instructed, and now those parts are headed back to the distributor.
d) my itty bitty 250cc Honda can't handle me + Mr. AJ - not even close
 [bang]

<cue joke about the rest of my issues>

Here's a thought.  Meet up with someone in the city and ride two-up with them.  Your boy can take the 250.  If you get yourself to Tambux someone else can relieve your pilot of you--Enzo loves to have a passenger.  I can take you on the back of mine as well.

No excuses.  We'll see ya there.

Joe, I hear this ride is starting at seven-fricken-thirty?   :o

I heard 7:30 through Enzo who's on FB and that's where that was posted.  I'm not on the 'book, so I'm dealing with second hand info.

Can you change the title of the thread to something indicating it's about the ride up to the races?  It's confusing for my wee brain to have two threads on the same subject.

Crap, if need be we can swing by the city to come git ya guys on our way over.  This isn't that hard.  We can take your boy on the back if needed as well.  Enzo and I got nice, big torquey motors.  I'll take your man so that he and Evan won't be all weirded out.   [roll]

Tigre,
What time are your races? I saw you posted 11:AM was the first race but the AFM site doesn't say what time the races are Sunday.
Have they confirmed?
thx!

The times we posted are our best guess.  The AFM doesn't start the races on a time schedule -- they just go in order.  Unlikely we'd go any earlier, possible it would happen later...  sorry that's so vague...

Gawd, I hate having two threads.  It make the beast with two backss with my OCD.  Joe, you're a retard.   [cheeky]

Practice starts at 8am.  There are 6 groups -- each gets 10-12 minutes.    With crash truck runs, the earliest practice finishes up is a little before 9:30.  Then there's the riders' meeting.  Races start--at the earliest--at about 9:45.  Each race is about 16-18 minutes of racing. There's a warm-up and cool-down lap, so they're over 20 minutes each.  With the crash struck, figure 25-30 minutes per race on average.

Assuming no red or black flags (giant assumption), Race 4 is most likely to start between 11:00 and 11:30.  Bet on 11am and you'll be fine.  I've never seen it run any earlier than that, and rarely at that time.  But show up at 11:30 and there's a chance you'll miss it.  Then it's lunch.

Lunch generally starts around noon or so.  There are another 9 races in the afternoon.  The afternoon races seem to run a bunch faster, i.e., more like 20 minutes for each rather than 30 minutes.  Starting around 1pm.

No that's cool. Now we know. It's a vague nebulous glob of happen chances.

See you guys there! I'm totally excited.
Go fast Tigre!!!

But we will have 4-6.5 friends joining us (the 0.5 being a wee kiddie)   [thumbsup]
Have fun & I'll see you all there!
