Title: '02 M750 S upper chain slider
Post by: Silvie on April 10, 2011, 07:45:03 PM
Wondering if anyone can help with a problem I am having in obtaining a replacement part for my Monster.

I need to replace the upper chain slider.
I have ordered one 3 times from Jack Trebour but none have fit so far. The first mis-fit was my fault since I told them I had a M750 and not a M750S.

Can anyone shed light on why the documented part numbers don't fit as expected?

Have you spoken with Country Joe?

Should realized that.  He is the service manager at Trebour and, if possible will solve your problem.

Karl, the Parts Manager is the guy who's been helping me.
He's supposed to really know his stuff, used to work for Ducati North America.

I have no doubt Karl knows his job.  I still suggest talking to Country Joe for two reasons.  One is Kyle probably did order the right part by number, so something might be different about your bike, like a modification or part change by the previous owner.  I would also be concerned why the slider is worn.  57K on my bike and excluding dirt the slider is fine.

Oh...let me take this moment for a shameless plug for a local Ducati club;D

I just read your post in "Introduce Yourself".  250 KnightHawk?  750S?  Silver with red wheels?  With hard luggage?

Yes on all accounts. I got the Monster from Walter. I think it looks better without the hard bags, but they will come in handy when we go to North Carolina in June. And I'm already subscribed to the DESMO goings on.

The slider got wrecked only because it needed to come off in order to get at the swing arm. One of the screws holding it on was not polite about letting go. When we insisted, a small piece of the slider got chewed up and I'd like to replace it with a proper, unchewed one.

This happened during a maintenance seminar at ECS in February.

'02 750S has an aluminum swingarm, and lists a chain slider that's different from both the regular 750 and the S4 & 900.

Different from the regular 750 due to the steel swinger, and presumably different from the 900/S4 because it has the 4.5" wheel instead of the 5.5".

Parts catalogues show the upper is 447.1.044.1A for the 750S.

Something's goofy though, checking online it comes up described as a 620 lower.

If you check the lower 447.1.043.1A, it gives you an updated part number 699.2.373.1A that's a *set* (upper and lower).
That's the same as what they show for the 900/S4.

Is your front sprocket installed flat side out?
