lining up the white tank strip on the red tank with the two white pinstripes next to is going to be pretty annoying.  i can ever get my tank skins to line up perfectly whenever i put them on and off.

I think its a beautiful bike.  Makes my 04 M1000 look old and dated.

Let's not get carried away!  Its new and exciting, doesn't make the other look "old" the M1000 is a phenomenal machine by any measure!  And besides, if your 2004 bike is getting old and dated, then what of my 5-year older bikes?!? I refuse to concede!

Like the termis

and the stripes should be easy to line up. they are vertical and follow the seam.

Definitely a nice looking bike.  Wish there was a picture of the entire bike with Termis.  With a good tail chop and deletion of the rear passenger pegs, that tail would create some awesome negative space above the rear wheel.

Has anyone removed the oil cooler shrouds on these 1100's?  I'm not a fan of excessive plastics.

My only issue with post '05 Ducati anythings is the expanding tank.  Just too scary to buy a used bike and risk the tank bubbling on me.

Agreed about the oil cooler shrouds. I'd like to see a nice naked oil cooler.

And even though I'm looking forward to a dealer visit next month to check out the genuine article, I'm also spooked by the plastic tank. Is it a deal killer? I haven't decided yet. Thoughts?

DUcati has pretty much said the plastic tank is a cosmetic issue, and seeing that the 1100 uses a false cover that cannot expand for the actual tank, there's really no issue.

also, the tanks have a three point mount with two hard mounts and a third flex mount that should allow for any expansion/deformation issue to not cause cracks. although some have been putting in the third bolt, which i don't see as a good idea at all.

I've heard of one tank having issues around the fuel pump, but I suspect that is more an issue with the exhaust on the pre-evo's so I think that problem is gone with the evo's new exhaust setup.

My tank has expanded so much that it has wedged itself into the slip-able pocket under the seat, others have had the width of their tank expand so much that the tank is beginning to show in the center, between the tank skins. Obviously not every tank, just us lucky ones.

With that said, I love the EVO,  If there is an sp version, I'm getting one.

Skins not fitting correctly and worst case gas leak from fuel pump assembly.

i also find it weird that ducati seems to be moving to 796 style abbreviated rim tape on the 1100evo.  i can understand it on the 796 because it's not the top of the line and it's a way to differentiate them... but the 1100 should at least get full rim tape.  unless they are just trying to save money and make one rim for both... which is prob the reason.
