Title: Need help from a 620 owner!
Post by: Queestce on April 16, 2011, 06:34:42 AM
Hey guys,

I'm trying to setup the suspension on my 620. The previous owner had lowered the bike by installing an adjustable link, I want to raise it up again. I was trying to find a base measurement to aim for that I can personalise it from but am running into walls! I was hoping some kind m620ie owner with a stock rear end might be able to do me a huge favor and take a measurement from the swingarm to the seat lock. To make it accurate it'd be great if someone could measure from the bottom of the swingarm just behind where the chain tensioner lives, straight up the the bottom of the keylock for the seat (ill upload a pic with some lines drawn in...) That way I can check where mines sitting and hopefully adjust the link accordingly to get back to a stock height. I'm just taking the measurements while the bikes static with no rider sitting on its side stand. Obviously it needs to be a 620 with the ride height unchanged... It seems advisable to "bounce" the suspension a little before measuring in order to let it settle at its neutral resting height. If anyone could help me out that would be a godsend! Otherwise I fear I will end up with a stock front end, and something altogther different at the back! Here's a pic of the place I am measuring from.

Thanks guys, enjoy the weekend!

I have an 05 620, I measured from the edge of the swingarm to the bottom of the seatlock and got just over 18 3/4 in.

On my '05 620... 48cm or 18.97 inches.

Hmmm, odd my measurements are a bit different  :-\

At the lower state it was about 49.5cm, now I raised it to about 51cm. I also raised to front about 1.5cm, but I'm still not sure why its higher than your bikes. It must have been lower than stock, the clearance was pretty poor, it wouldn't get up a normal sized curb without the headers scraping. They are stock headers too. Either way it it a lot better now, cornering clearance is improved, no more dragging the side stand! Finally I've got rid of all my chicken strips... I need to fine tune the whole suspension properly, but its a lot better with the rear preload set the way I want it. Either way I figured just to be clear I'd stick a better picture up of exactly where I was measuring from in case that's why the measurements are so different...

I'll remeasure tonight when I get home and let you know what I come up with.

If the owner adjusted the seat hight I'm sure they messed with the preload as well. I know if you search around the forum you can find what the sag should be.  Because seat hight when your off the bike doesn't mean anything.
