Hey guys, first post.

Recently I acquired a mint 2000 900ie from a friend, and am getting bit by the mod bug pretty hard... I'm chomping at the bit to open up that dry clutch!

I've been looking at both the TPOparts and the Speedymoto covers.  Does anyone have any horror stories of the cheaper TPOparts covers? I remember reading that the Speedymoto covers are pretty thick and will handle a drop/fall/crash while protecting the clutch, but haven't really heard anything about the TPO cover.  (I'm looking at the 5 and 10 spoke design from Speedy, and the 10 spoke from TPO).

I also have my eyes set on some stainless springs/bolts and retainers (took my stock cover off today and noticed the stock springs are pretty cruddy).

Also, my gasket seems to be cracking around the bolt locations (I'm assuming this is due to being 11 years old).  Do these covers need the gasket? If so I'll probably have to get a new one.

I wouldn't worry about the gasket.  It's there to keep water out, which won't matter when you put a cover on there with holes in it

I was agonizing over this decision a bit go after getting my first dry clutch Duc. I went with the SpeedyMoto 5 spoke and have been super happy with the fit finish and overall quality of it. I have a vid of it that I made a week or so ago. Nothing fancy, just playing around with the iphone cam.  ;D

I have purchased many items from TPO, and I am quite happy with everything. Their anodizing looks top notch. I just purchased the Beast intake kit along with alternator cover and oil filler cap. The machining is very nice. I may actually go with one of their clutch covers, but not sure if it will look good with my machined case.

I dont know anything about TPO's covers but speedymoto machines their covers out of a HUGE piece of solid aircraft aluminum. the ones that cover the entire clutch are made for protection as well as style. they've also got a few that are not vented at all and are ABSURDLY strong.


the corosion on your stock pieces is probably linked to your deteriorating rubber/general age, going with stainless steel springs and caps and an aftermarket cover will negate the need for that rubber piece (but a pressure plate will be on your shopping list asap. ;D)

FWIW the speedymoto springs are not made by speedymoto but rather sourced from company that only makes springs (insuring the spring tolerances/durability is something best left to a company that ONLY does that) the springs may have a different gauge or length to the stock ones but they WILL be the appropriate strength for the application.

 speedymoto also has an awesome rep for customer service and they're also small enough operation that they can do limited custom stuff if you contact them directly.

I think tomorrow I will be ordering a black 5 spoke Speedymoto cover, a red Kukri pressure plate, and stainless springs/bolts with gold retainers.  :)

I'll see how everything fits up both with and without the rubber gasket, but have a feeling I'll end up not running it.  It just looks so much cleaner without it.

Finally made up my mind and installed the new toys  ;D
