Title: Malfuncion on the horizontal cylinder
Post by: desmodoktor on April 17, 2011, 11:47:53 AM
02 M750D , 7800miles.

The bike is in Neutral and warmed up.
when i hold the throttle steady open from 1000 - 2000rpms there is some type of clicking on the horizontal cylinder.
i removed the air filter and turned on the engine. did the same thing and i could see from one of the intakes fire every time it clicks .. some times it stalls the engine .
if i open the throttle more for ex. 3000-4000rpms everything is normal . no clicking or seeing the fire.. but on low rpms im able to see the fire from the air intake! any ideas why is this happening?

Basics first.  Throttle synch, valve adjustment, vacuum leak and ignition.  I suspect the clicking you are hearing is a backfire through the intake.

yes , the clicking is backfire through the intake...
built a manometer and synch. the throttle bodies.. but it still backfires through the intake.
could it be that one of the valves is not closing all the way and its causing the backfire through the intake?  ???

Could be, a cylinder leakage test is a way to find out without checking valve clearance.  Did you check TPS?  On your bike it can be done with a voltmeter.  I don't remember or have access right now for the spec and method.  A dealer or qualified independent can also do this for you.
