So, I'm not a big fan of social networking sites but I signed up to the new Ducati Community site 'cause you get to meet a ton of Ducatistas and see their bikes. Then today I ran into this...
One of the dudes I follow(as in tweeter follow) posted this which he saw while out on a bike night... I usually don't care much about what people do to their bikes, to each their own but this is just motorcycle abuse... [bang] [bang] [bang] P.S also notice the fact that they removed one of the front brake rotors, I see that on Hayabusas all the time they do it so "you can see the front rim better..." On second thought, throw the old Multistrada in the same category. Love the old monsters (miss my '99 M750), the pre-2000 900 SuperSports, and the early SBK's. The older Multi..? meh. When the 999 came out, I jumped on the bandwagon of haters, but the more I looked at them, the more I was drawn to them. NOTHING out there looks like the 999, and that's a good thing. As purty as the **6/**8/***8 series' looks, it just can't go a buck 20 on their sidestands like the Triple-9 can. But, that's what's great about the forum. We can disagree on stuff... Just don't try to convince me that the old Indiana was a pretty bike, or we're gonna have problems! >:( ;) *and that blue abomination needs to be kicked down a flight of stairs and pushed off a cliff! Everyone really into the 999 knows that the yellow signal covers are what it is all about. Oh, and the upper and lower headlight adjustment knobs. I bet he left those stock too.

Minimalist bikes when done right can be super clean and yes there is beauty in simplicity. But, a bike with all the right carbon/Ti/gofastbits can be just as beautiful. Conversely, when done poorly a minimalist bike can just look ratty (not always a bad thing) and a bike with add-ons can look gaudy. Title: Re: I get what you did there, but why?
