Yeah, they are spinning.

Yep - it's hitting the metal film in the disc. This is a lot like sticking a CD in the microwave - on a big scale

Yep - it's hitting the metal film in the disc. This is a lot like sticking a CD in the microwave - on a big scale

so.. what's happening to the aluminum?  is it vapourizing or burning out?  it doesn't look like the plastic is melting and it's clearly stripping out the metal.

^^ I was wondering that too.
Am on my phone, so tiny screen, but it looked in the middle kinda like small bits of something were shooting off the discs.... is the aluminum flying off?

At higher resolution you can see small fragments flying all over as soon as the electricity hits. It's probably vaporizing the aluminum and causing a llot of tiny little blow outs that are popping off the bottem layer of the CD bit by bit

I somehow suspect inhaling aluminum vapors is ill-advised.

I'm gettin one of those to entertain the 4 year old kid that we watch sometimes. I'm gonna warn him not to put his head in the electricity like Jar Jar Binks did.
