First on the Monster, and first ever. Pretty slow, about 15 mph, stopped behind a truck making a left, went around to his right, someone pulled accross my lane from behind parallel parked cars, my front wheel locked up, bike went down, I did a few rolls, bike slid into/under her front bumper. My front fender shattered, my bars are a little tweaked, brake levers are both bent, bar end is scuffed, master cylinder might be junk. Frame slider saved the rest of the bike, I was able to ride it home. Never been more glad that I wear my gear. Walked away with a dime sized patch of rash on my knee...Gloves took a pretty good beating too. Already started the insurance claim so I can get back out there hopefully for the meet in the middle ride!!
Stay safe, and get yourself looked at, get the bike looked at. I am always super cautious passing cars that have slowed or stopped to turn. On a motorcycle, we are small enough to be invisible behind a car of any size, so people just assume there is no one right behind the turning vehicle.
Thats true, when I was talking to the girl that was driving the car while we waited for the police to show up, she said she saw me stop, then pulled out not thinking I would go around...
Oh well, no one was hurt, thats really what matters. Dropping the bike off this afternoon.

Gear, never leave home without it. I always wear back armour (forcefield), knee armor(forecefield), boots (alpine & sidi) and jacket every time. Twisty, full suit.

If You had patience,and waited for the truck to turn, would this have happened? Timing is a very sacred thing, wait for it!!!!

In retrospect I think most of us who have been in accidents would say that we could have prevented them had we done something different .
We only get one chance to make a decision , just be glad that most of the time it's the right one.
Learn from this what you can and try not to have a repeat incident.

It's true, if I had waited for the truck to turn the accident would have been avoided, the same is true if the other driver had waited for both lanes to be clear before pulling out onto a main road. Either way, it is impossible to anticipate what every other driver on the road will do, so I just have to be more mindful and never forget what can happen.
As for the helmet, I know my ins. will give me new gloves, but I dont think they would go for a bucket, as there is no sign of contact (and I know for a fact it didnt hit...) A coworker told me to just throw it to the ground, but I really like that helmet..

My thoughts too, I looked it over (for about the 4th time) yesterday just to be sure there was no evidence of impact. Still clean and clear. Although they did end up finding me at fault, which is kind of BS in my opinion. Passing a stopped car on the right or not, I should still think I would have the right of way over a left turn out of a parking lot.

which way were your handbars turned, when you applied brake pressure? Did you use front and rear brakes together?

This was the correct finding - the shoulder is not permitted for passing but 95% of people use it for that. I was stopped behind a truck taking a left who signaled to the driver to pull out which they did and right into a guy on a road bike who was trying to take a left next to the truck - His leg was pretty ugly.
The car stopped to turn was essentially in the median (if there was one, he was on the yellow line) I was still within the travel lane, not on the shoulder. I am certain of this because there were parallel parked cars in "the median" and there was almost enough room for a car to fit between, more than enough for a bike to fit safely. Either way, I called my insurance agent to dispute the fault, and both he, and the insurance adjuster agree that I had the right of way over a car entering the roadway from a parking lot. Either way, well see what happens.

It happened too fast to remember where my bars were, it was all front brake. I have a bad habbit of neglecting my rear brake.
If I can make a slight suggestion for your next time out, I were youth dirt bike knee/shin guards underneath my pants. You can hardly tell they are there. They work perfectly and have saved me in the past. If you think about the CE protection that is in your standard moto jacket, it doesn't take much, that is why I use youth size...
