My last drummer offered to swap his unfinished '64 Fairlane straight up for my ratty ass Cherokee. I passed. After watching this vid, I just died a little inside.

I just think the other cars were used to being served by a 40+ y.o. Ford! [laugh]
May be the " Best " video shot at the " RING " I've seen.
I just can't get over the fact that that old 64' even w. the 427 cu. could run faster than a $2 million Bugatti Veyron or possibly the holder of the fastest time around the " RING ," the Gumpert Apollo.
How on Earth do they make that '64 aerodynamically such that it could reach 265 mph ?
That's the same car basically that " Fireball Roberts " raced in Nascar before he was killed.
Great piece of " magic "there at the " RING ."
Thanks for the post , I'll enjoy it often .
Back in '67 I had a Ford Fairlane GT w. a 390 cu. , 4 on the floor, plus Holley 4 Barrel....I thought it was fast !
Never knew how fast it would go , I pegged the 120 mph speedo many times and the Tach just kept on going.
Green w. a white GT stripe.
Dolph :)

the 265mph question is an easy one - it is 265km/h - still pretty damn fast.

Wow, make the beast with two backsing awesome vid! The four best sounds in the world: Duc 2 valve with Termis, P-51 Rolls Royce, any radial WWII airplane motor... T-28, T-6 Texan, B-17, B-24, B-25, etc. and a 427 SOHC side oiler! OK... maybe NHRA top fuelers and funnys! That old sled was make the beast with two backsing humping it!! [thumbsup] See anyone pass him? NO. ;D How cool was that? [bow_down]

Enough brute force under the hood will do anything. ;)
This is the original car. It was an experimental model built by Holman-Moody for NASCAR testing. Sold in '65 and raced in europe
for a while. Whereabouts unknown today. H-M built the modern car as #2 of 4 re-creations using the original prints and much of the
original spares. The roll cage is based on an original design but updated to modern safety standards. Suspension and brakes are all
original pieces.

Wonderful pics of Spa, what you don't see is just how hilly the old long circuit at Spa realy was, in 1977 I was lucky enough to do a quick lap in a BMW batmobile driven by Tom Walkinshaw... :'(
Yes I did follow through... :-[ but the following year when we went back for the 24hour race the circuit had been shortend and sanitized... [thumbsdown]
Getting back to the Fairlane I'm almost certain I can remember Alan Mann running a Fairlane at some point, I think it was after the Galaxy, I also think that Sir John Whitemore was the driver... ???
