Now all Ducati need is a second team rider who can ride the bike properly, and not try to make it handle and ride like a Honda. 

Lot's a talk of Sete as we heard over the last weeks.
I think he left too early, unfinished business in my mind.
Both Duc's need to be up the front of the grid, they are capable of it as we know.
Seems Italians never go well in Italian teams, in Moto GP or Formula 1.

I've heard that about Sete as well. It seems that after his team mate was killed he had a few good races, I think he even won a couple, but he just never got back to his former pace.

I disagee about Italians in Italian teams, Loris was well on his way to a championship in 06  ??? when he got taken out and subsequently injured and Max is doing sort of OK on a non factory bike in WSBK.

I don't think Melandri can handle the bucking bull that is the Ducati.  ???

Melandri is the wrong rider for the Duke. The GP8 needs to be riden with force, Melandri's is wrong on that bike. Its suits the Honda better, particularly looking at the way they approach races.
 I actually think Hayden would be good on the Ducati... until he wears the tyres out.... - Chris

Rossi wants to ride Ducati

Former world MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi has said he would be interested in riding for Ducati in 2009 if his Yamaha bike does not improve next season.

Ducati’s Casey Stoner raced away with the title this season with Rossi finishing third in the standings, the first time he has finished outside the top two in any category since his rookie season in 1996.

Italian Rossi will stick with Yamaha next season - but has given the team a warning.

“If it gets better I can wait another year. If not there is nothing left to do,” Rossi said.

“I have a good relationship with both [Ducati and Honda] - but would definitely prefer Ducati because they are Italian.”

So it will be like the Ferrari years were they dominated for so long... on comes Ducati. With Rossi & Stoner a certain 1/2

Its a shame the Itals hate the Spanish so much. I think Divizioso would be awesome in the 2nd DUke, but the Itals would never allow a spanyard on the Ital bike... shame -  Chris

With what is being said in another post I would just like to bring to the attention of Tool what this forum can do. Today I went down to the post office and in the PO box is a little note. I go to the counter pass the note to the young lady and she passes me a CD from Barry. Now I wouldn't know Barry if he was standing in front of me, but this kind bloke has gone out of his way to send me, at his own cost a copy of the work shop manual. Id like to say many thanks Barry and hope I can repay the favour some time

I'm not much into watching any sport - hell - I don't even watch the tour de france - and I understand what they are doing (riding around France in there underwear)...only reason I wanted to watch MotoGP was so I could spend time studying their cornering technique / timing....then I was greeted with a manic englishman who sounds like he's snorted a line of coke, they speak softly for 80% of it and then he just starts screaming like a homicidal maniac in a axe shop.

Right now, I am stuck on Duty. Spending my Sunday on the ship. Spent the morning walking topside on watch. After 4 hours, I was drenched in sweat and a bit buggered. It's ~ 30 here and I was in uniform carrying a bit of gear. Got off watch and could ring the water out of my shirt like I got caught in the rain. Now, I'm just filling out paperwork and prepping for the workweek.

I ride an 03 Monster 400 matte silver that I picked up in April. Before that I had an S2R in the states until I got ran off the road. Haven't had a chance to put many kms on it as it's still stuck on base while I sort out licensing issues. It's taking a while as the ship likes to spend a lot of time at sea.

I live in Japan. Yokosuka specifically. It's 90 minutes by train south of Tokyo. Been in the Navy since I was 19 and am hitting my 10 year mark in October. Damn... Feel like I should be in the "introduce yourself" thread. What's required next? pictures?

no beers. Not while on duty. I'll have to wait until this time tomorrow to pound back a few. I did find a neat trick though. Out here they add a grain alcohol called sho ju to beer (or tea, juice, etc.). It's damn good. Couple fingers of sho ju mixed with a stubbie and it doesn't take long to turn into a two pot screamer.

Tonight, it's just lots of water and some canned iced coffee to keep me going.

Surely you'd be better off with a Lambretta. The Boss might be able to help point you in the right direction, depending on what you are after. Are there many regular AMCN readers around here? I thought there would have been a mention of the 696 review in the current issue. it got a good write up, and they also mention a new Monster 1100 (air cooled) is on the cards for the end of the year.

On another note, drove down to Sussex Inlet today where my parents live on the South Coast of NSW. Had to pick my Dad up to take him to Royal Prince Alfred hospital in Newtown for a knee replacement. I hadn't seen him for about a month and he could hardly walk. Hope a new knee will fix him up.  :-\

On the way down the coast, when going through Berry, saw a heap of vintage bikes there, mostly Ariel's and Triumphs, there was a red/white monster in the middle of them parked on the side of the road. Was maybe thinking it was Rob's.  ???

is it orange? If so that's non-stock for 2004 (or 05 for that matter!). If it's red it could just have the stripe added (04's didn't have the stripe, 05's did).

Low (as opposed to virtually no) kilometres is another attraction for him plus the amount of work that seems to have been done. Don't think 7300 is too bad.

having said that...

there are women that don't deserve to be treated so well. I had a mate who came down to Melbourne to catch up, whilst in the CBD he went in and bought some Aesop skincare for his wife (on my recommendation)...I called him later that week and asked how her gift went and she 'wasn't that fussed'. At that point I thought 'get rid of her, she's no good!'

best part is, as cyclists, we have most the tools at hand!

I use muscle soak (good for the legs after a hard day on the bike) for the warm footbath, then use a warming embrocation (from my road racing days) or almond oil (post ride massage) for the massage. Then just a bit of moisturiser and all done...and we look pro!  [thumbsup]

I didn't actually see what was posted but I did hear about it and it was definitely not polite. There aren't many things that upset me but there is someone I am very protective of.

Better to say that you had an emergency in the family and had to travel away from your electrate. You could use work as an excuse for travelling as well. Note that it was unexpected and last minute so you could not arrange a prevoting. So what did today bring:

. made a quick visit to the helmet warehouse (following the case of the exploding helmet on the ride yesterday)
. went to the Italian vehicle display at Club Italia, Lansvale
. there was a variety of bikes, scooters and cars there including a fair few ducatis (but not as many as the days when the show used to include the ducati concourse)
. only noticed one other monster ... a 620 dark with silver tank (?) and british columbia plates (double ?), couldn't find the owner though
. it was bloody hot
. briefly met up with Six95 on the way home (he had lost his ears at Pie in the Sky)
. spotted some coppers on the old road

So the coppers ... as always we were well behaved (yes including Jukie, surprise, surprise). North of the Hawkesbury on the old road: a black unmarked commodore (stopped), a red marked car (mobile with radar hanging out the wndow), a bike (stopped, mr coppy with radar in hand) and what Julie suspects was a unmarked car which followed us and suspiciously turned around and gave up on us (in the rear view it looked like a black RX7?). I couldn't believe how many there were that close together around 4ish ... good news is they probably made their periodical quota.

You might think that you don't like your job or that it's really hard to get motivated to go to work on a Monday...... but spare a thought for this for sod.
