Title: Levers for Goldline Masters
Post by: csorin on April 26, 2011, 11:01:23 AM
Hey guys,

I need to get some levers for a set of 05 S4 goldline masters purchased from a fellow forum member (thanks UglyDucky).  Right now, I have only the bare masters.  What are my options for sourcing a lever pin and plunger?  I've checked out Ducati Omaha's OEM parts sheets, and it looks like the plunger is part of the lever.  Thus, when sourcing a lever, do I need to make sure they come with a plunger?

It would seem a set of levers like this would be of no help to me:

They are missing the plunger pin that can be seen in this picture?:

Do aftermarket levers not have this plunger pin?  If I went with aftermarket levers, do I just need to source the lever pin?

Damn, so $50 for two pins?  That is terrible.  With CRG levers I'd be looking at over $300 in just levers.  Am I looking at these costs no matter what lever I go with, stock or otherwise?  My guess is the M-Label S4 levers are the 2nd from the top?  Seems both clutch and brake always need pins...

Looks like I might be hosed:

If anyone has a lead on the 'pin and barrel' it's much appreciated.

Right, it's just a shame to buy the OEM levers only for the damn pins.  Maybe the best bet is to go with some M-Label levers for $70 and just suck it up and buy the $50 AF1 replacement pin and barrel set.

FYI if you want cheap Chinese eBay levers there are better options than the M-Labels. You might want to read the thread on them -

Thanks Darkstar, Jeff had mentioned those.  I'm starting to consider just getting a set of brand new OEM levers from Yoyodyneti.  $110 for a pair with all the fixins including clutch switch activation.  Lets me have something to upgrade later :P

Oooookay,

Yes, still collecting data on what I need to complete my new masters.  Currently, I have a set of masters with reservoirs.  No brake switch, no levers.  From the microfiches on Ducati of Omaha, I have gathered that I need the following parts:

Brake Microswitch:
http://www.yoyodyneti.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=110.4418.21 (http://www.yoyodyneti.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=110.4418.21)

Is there not a small plastic cylinder between the switch and the brake lever like the coffin masters?

Lever Pin:
http://www.yoyodyneti.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=110.2798.11 (http://www.yoyodyneti.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=110.2798.11)

Correct size?

A Pin and Barrel Solution:
http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=7756 (http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=7756)

Some kind of lever solution:
Could be M-Label.  These have ups and downs as far as reviews go on here.  The other Pazzo looking type of lever is only available for radial masters.

Could also be these CRG's.  The gray color is damn sexy:
http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=6072 (http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=6072)

Are these CRG's the correct size?

Any confirmation on whether these are the correct switches or sizes of pins/levers is much appreciated.  The one thing I am missing, and that might not be remedied, is the clutch microswitch.  It's a $45 part, and I've been living without since I bought the bike a year ago.  Maybe a banjo switch to button things up right?

Oh yeah, as the barrel and pin only come with a complete lever, go ask the local dealers to check their parts bins.  They may have some sitting around on broken levers others had changed out, and they may give them to you for free.

Now this would be ideal. :D

Local dealer didn't have the pins and barrels.

Does anyone have experience with these levers?

I'm pretty sure a forum member had recommended them in a "Parts Wanted" thread.

These plus the AF1 pin and barrels comes out to less than a set of OEM levers.

My mlabel levers are great. The anodizing is beautiful, fit and finish is on par with the expensive brands, solid engagement of the adjustment clicker. I'd recommend them IMHO.

Right, I've seen those.  Their cost plus the needed pin and barrels comes out to the same as buying a brand new set from yoyodyneti.  I figure if I'm buying the outrageously expensive pin and barrel, I might as well get some of these after market levers.
