Post by: zooom on April 29, 2011, 09:20:19 AM Why do you put the foot out anyway? kinda 2 reasons...1) being that when you are seated in a neutral position during a leaned over drift turn, trying to keep your foot on the peg is kind of an unnatural position and with the lean angles, doing knee down could get in the way...2) it is easier to step off the machine if you go so far as to lose the rear beyond control and get out of the way.... I've gone dirtbiking several times and just couldn't get the hang of kicking my leg way out there like that. It just felt awkward, and I caught my heel in a rut and it jammed me up some. :-\ But, I come from a street background, not a dirt background. Like someone mentioned earlier, it makes sense to have your leg out so if you lose traction or the bike goes down, you can just step off easier and avoid getting pinned.
