Title: Desmoworld?
Post by: scduc on May 04, 2011, 03:12:33 AM
Has any one heard from them within the last month? I sent many emails to the info address with no response. I'm getting close to stopping payment on an order. Unfortunately, I placed the order back on 2-27 and payment is already made.

I spoke with Chris last tuesday on the telephone and every thing seemed OK, I'd tried to call him a couple of times before but an answering machine clicked in, he tells me that he has had to start using the answer machine as it enables him to get on with the orders.
I've bought from Desmoworld on many occassions, some times the goods are alittle slow in coming but thats due to his suppliers, the quality of all the parts that I've received are first class and theres never been any problem... [thumbsup]

The only complaints about Desmoworld are the same as yours -- slow action.  I've bought several times from Chris over the last (!!!) 6 years and never had a problem other than email responses slow and delivery occasionally delayed and if you look around on the board, you'll see the same comments.

I've (eventually) managed to buy stuff from Chris in the past.... but I've grown tried of my futile attempts to give him money in the last 6 months.  Nice gear, but I cant be bothered with constantly having to hassle him to sell me something.  Must be nice to be doing so well that you can afford to be so unresponsive.

I've tried to order frame plugs on three separate occasions. They're gorgeous and I want them so bad I can taste the anondizing dye. None of those times has Chris gotten back to me through the three different email addresses that have been posted here over the years. It's a shame because I'd really like to give him money but in order for that to happen I need him to get back to me.

I received an order about a month ago and the item I received was incorrect.  I emailed about the error and have not yet received a response.  At this point I suspect I am out the $50.00 or so; luckily it wasn't an expensive item.

He's out in Nuremburg I think. too far for me, otherwise I'd stop by and remind him about us ;)

I understand the time issues. And considering that I live on the otherside of the planet, shipping will take forever. Alll he needs to do is respond to emails. I asked if the items shipped, and no response 3 times. A simple "yes" or "no" would keep me quite.

Pretty much everything I order comes from the other side of the planet, frequently amazes me just how fast stuff arrives.  I recently ordered Suzuki stuff from OR, USA.... arrived at my Australian door four days later [clap].  My son ordered running shoes from England....  arrived in a week.  Most stuff gets around the globe in under 14 days in my experience.  Although I once waited over 6 weeks for something to get here from Canada.

With Chris @ Desmoworld the delay is not in the shipping, its in getting him to acknowledge your order and take your money.  Pity coz as others have said he does have some cool trinkets on offer.

You guys might want to try contacting them via their 'wall' on facebook.  I noticed the last person to post there got a reply within hours... Maybe if you do a little prodding on a public thing like the facebook page you will get a better result?

I think I remember another thread about this and he was saying he had a problem with one of his email addresses.  He will probably pop in here eventually and respond.

He is a Sponsor of this forum (look over <) Nobody should have to go "prodding" around looking for him.

I agree completely, but there seems to be enough evidence to suggest that the normal channels aren't working as they should.

This is exactly the point. I have used the email address that he (Chris) said we should use. I've replied to old emails and sent new ones. I do not use Facebook, and will not join just for this. My other option is to phone. Haveing never made an overseas call, I am somewhat leary. I also just want to know if others are having the same issue. I do know that being a small business owner can be very demanding. I guess I will shut up and wait for my goods for 1 more month.

It's not that far.  I used to date a girl that lived there when I was in Germany.  Takes less than two hours to get there, and it's a lovely city.  Go and enjoy a weekend and pop by his shop.   [thumbsup]

Exactly.  But continual prodding is exactly what you have to do if you want anything from 'em.  I have a better idea.  make the beast with two backs 'em  [thumbsup].

Definately not interested in that, especially now that he's had my money for close to 3 months.. His stuff is by far the best looking product on the market. I can only say this from photos as I have yet to recieve anything. I just ordered from Spareshack and if that stuff shows up first, I'm going to blow a gasket.

DMF sponsors should be held to a certain standard. If they can't, at the least, communicate with someone that has sent them money, the flounders should not allow them to continue to be a sponsor. The allegation would have to be verified and I'm sure the flounders loathe to be involved in any sponsor/customer issues but... I for one expect the sponsors allowed here to be vetted and be safe to do business with.

I had the same problem.... after email didint work I had to make many many many calls to get it all done, but I did eventually receive the parts... as mentioned by others his parts are good, but for the price they should be... I wonder if this is a part time business?
Rather than see any action from the flounders...personally I would prefer if Chris took all our comments here as constructive criticism and fixed the problem.
I would have spent more money with him but same as all you guys found it just too hard.
I have owned small business and been up to my arse in alligators trying to get clients work and orders filled...so I can understand how this happens if it is part time or a hobby... but not in a full time operation...  not sure if it is just me... but I have had to wait forever on most parts ordered for my monster, even from the factory... do you think is it a ducati thing??
Hope you get your bits sooner rather than later.... Cmon Chris...talk to the man please !!!

Doesnt need to be so complicated.  If there are sufficient complaints to our Glorious Leaders regarding a particular sponsor.... then all the Flounders would need to do is contact that sponsor to remind them of the standard expected.  Follwed by removal as a sponsor if theres no subsequent improvement.  Our Flounders would probably much rather get rid of an unresponsive sponsor than be continually pestered by the complaints of disgruntled DMFers  ;).

I dont think Chris and Desmoworld are unworthy, but a reminder from On High of whats expected wouldnt hurt.

This is really not where I wanted this to go, I just have not heard from him in 4 weeks. My last email said that he forgot to send them and was very apologetic. I agree that a small business owner can be up to their ears with work. (that is good if its the case) If there was a reason for not being able to ship (back-order / funds not received), then I could understand that too. The money cleared my CC Co. 3 days after order which was 2-27-11. On 4-8-11 he replied " OMG OMG OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!

whats happen ??? i see you box was still here :-(

i will check if theres any problems ( dont think so ) and get back to
you with the shipping information

1000Sorrys
Chris

I've sent him 5 emails since, and no replies. That is why I am some what concerned. If they have not shipped, I am OK with that. Just let me know. If they have shipped, then give me the courtesy of knowing the tracking # in case there the package got lost in shipping.

I do a lot of business online. You are much more patient then I. There is no way I would do business with a company that takes my money on 2-30, hasn't shipped as of 4-8, and still has not shipped or replied to emails on 5-7.  There is no "small business" excuse. At this point I would say you have no choice but to dispute the charge with your CC company.

I had another box of goodies arrive today from Chris at Desmoworld, its been three weeks but most of the delay was Chris waiting for the small carbon exhaust guard that I'd ordered but wasn't in stock. The goods are always well packed and arrive in a perfect condition and the best thing is that they actually fit perfectly which is'nt the case with some suppliers plus theres always a small bag of candy... [thumbsup]

Well, after sending an email this morning, I finally got his attention. I said I would contact my CC co. and cancel payment. That, not surprisingly received a response. He still has not sent a tracking # and said he will look into it. For the most part I am a patient man. And if I get my goods, I will have no problem purchasing from him again. I am getting the impression that he really needs to hire a secretary to help with these sort of problems. I also see that he is in the process of moving.

One week after Chris sent my order, it arrives.  :). All is right with the world again. The parts look awesome and I am very pleased. I will post pics of the rearsets within the next couple of days. I will be ordering from him again. His stuff looks great.

I posted on his facebook page that people were getting pissed at him, he said he couldn't get on the DMF for some reason and to please contact him on FB or by email.

I know he wasn't replying to emails, but that's the story.

Wonder how much sponsorship costs around here?  Hope its a fixed fee and not a % of sales volume  [laugh].
