Title: How to adjust the butterfly valves on carbs?
Post by: MaaloX on May 05, 2011, 02:25:21 PM
CV Carbs 98 750 Monster

I am in the process of rebuilding the carbs and I noticed that the butterfly valves will not close all the way together. I have adjusted the screw and I can see them being adjusted but on one side the throttle body does not close all the way .  I can see this clearly because I am using a flashlight in back while I adjusted the screw...Without the use of the flashlight from behind I would not be able to tell....
Should I not worry so much until I do the carb sync? I had it running this year already but wanted to make sure if there was something I was missing that I got it right before putting everything back together......

You're OK as long as they're close.  Syncing with a manometer will set them to the same manifold pressure, which typically means the same minimal throttle opening.

Thanks Cloner that makes me feel better about putting it all together.

It is very minimal space I am talking about here but just wanted to get that second opinion.  I will be syncing this weekend. And its supposed to be nice this weekend so I need to get it out on the road.

Every time I am stuck in my garage working on my bike, and I hear the roar of others ripping through there gears down the road I get a bit salty.
