I just did the first filter change (5K miles) on my M900ie, and screwed on a Fram because I didn't know any better. I'm now VERY ANXIOUS to get it off the bike.
We use screens on our race cars, as we want to keep the big chunks out without any possibility whatsoever of oil bypassing the filter. On a street engine, I believe it's better to catch everything, even if the bypass opens on occasion. After all, if the filter has "caught" all the pieces, then there shouldn't much if anything bad in bypassed oil. Yes/no?
I'm starting to think that I'll "bite the bullet" and spend the extra money for a Ducati filter. It's a rip off, but there are so many conflicting opinions on filters, that I don't know what to believe. From what I've read, the Baldwin Filters seem to have a good reputation. Yes/no?

Yes Amsoil is believed to be the best.
Put some Neodym magnets on the outside of the filter and it is as good as it gets.
