OK, so I bought me one of these Klim waist packs (http://www.bikebandit.com/klim-scramble-pak-waist-pack?m=9751) today. I'd like to include a few tools in it, and I want to crowdsource my choices! Which 3 tools would you include?
I realize that it's probably bike-specific...but the answer is interesting nonetheless. Assume you're packing for your bikes. And if you don't see your choice up there, speak up!
I try to carry a buncha stuff with me under the seat, but if I had to go totally minimalist and try to keep it to three primary tools, it'd be:
Adjustable wrench
Screwdriver --one that takes a coupla different bits, so that I could have both philips and flathead. Like this -- http://www.harborfreight.com/7-in-1-screwdriver-set-94955.html (http://www.harborfreight.com/7-in-1-screwdriver-set-94955.html)
Allen wrench set
I'd wrap ducttape around the handles of one of the tools to use in case of an emergency.
blade fuses--two or three of each size. They take up no space at all.
Zipties
If you allowed me four tools, I'd take vise grips. Or just bring a leatherman along.
Modern tool kit:
1) iPhone
2) credit card
Fits in one pocket.
If I was road tripping it'd be quite different. Depending on where.
Tire plug
Multi tool
3 key Allen wrenches
Thermal radiator tape
Duct tape
Thermal blanket (got a mylar one it's the size of two condoms)
*fuses
*Zip ties (good idea Spidey)
JB WELD steel epoxy. ( you could make a new crank case if you needed to)
All that's a little bigger than a muffin and that's the size of my 848 boot storage.
Nothing. Honestly, I've tried having a toolkit along and whatever I bring is always the thing I don't need. And your toolkit is the optimists' toolkit. The pessimists' tookit is an airline-sized bottle of Grey Goose Vodka and a revolver.

'belle is totally right, as always!!
Having a little bit of wire and some electrical tape has saved me on a few occasions.
After reading 'belle's post I may have to include the booze in my kit. I can think back to a few times where the wire wasn't enough and the booze may have helped.
I used to carry a loaded tool kit -- just about everything except a torque wrench -- under the seat.. and one day I realized I hadn't even opened it in 2 years and the last time I broke down, I called someone and got the bike towed.
I tossed it.
Let's be realistic here. The only things a self-respecting Ducati owner should carry in his/her toolkit are a 'bux card, hair gel and rubbers. Lots and lots of rubbers.
what's rubbers?

Assumes facts not in evidence.
I like how "boobies" and "adjustable crescent wrench" are tied.

Leading the witless.
Vise grips can be used as brake/clutch/shift levers. [thumbsup]
along with the standard tools and parts specific to the moto i carry...
condoms
sanitizing hand towelettes
wire
string
true gps unit that links to phone
moto specific instant tire inflater/flat fixer
cash
The only thing i intentionally carried was a tire patch kit. Locally a cell phone would get me out of any thing else.
Plug wrench with an extra set plugs, tire patch kit.

Unless it's an AT&T phone and you have no coverage ;D

Why did you give me a set of these? Did my wife say something?

In any case I have them duct taped along side the tires I'm running now, in case I need spares.
