Title: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: DucatiTorrey on May 09, 2011, 04:58:15 PM Hey im finally ordering tires tonight or tomorrow, but, i dont want to spend $100+ putting them on..... .. ....
anywhere is town that is cheap? what about fay myers in south denver? Erico wants 130 bucks i fyou bring your own tires, half that if you get them from them. looks like pikes peak harley wants 85 an hour, but he made it sound like I should bring in the wheels, not the whole bike (to save time, do it in an hour) any ideas? can i pay one of you guys? Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: aerofaze on May 09, 2011, 05:22:38 PM Jim, I've gotten my tires from 303 Cycle in south Denver (near Hampden & US85). Though it's a tiny shop, Dave Konich there will hook you up real good with some tires/mounting, and he STRIVES (didn't say it's achieved every time, but you can always tell him what others are paying for) to be for the cheapest prices in the area.
I know several other people who are regular (and happy) customers there. Also mention "CSC discount" or my username (aerofaze), and he'll subtract a couple few $$. Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: DucatiTorrey on May 10, 2011, 07:18:46 AM awesome thanks, ill check him out
Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: aerofaze on May 16, 2011, 10:11:43 AM Got your tires yet?
As Mike mentioned in the other post, I am running on Michelin Pilot Road 2's. Got those from 303. I'd like to check out the Road 3's, but because I'm not going to be riding on as varied conditions as much as Mike will for the time being, the Road 3's won't be necessary. Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: DucatiTorrey on May 16, 2011, 10:22:52 AM yeah the road threes have more siping, not sure i need that in colroado, not very wet here.
i am getting them installed by Mad-Moto in denver. http://www.madmoto1.com/ (http://www.madmoto1.com/) they do any tire you want for $345, a bit procey, but ended up getting the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT, its a sport dual compound tire, and for this tire, the price is pretty good. getting them put on this week sometime, waiting for them to come in, probably wed ride this weekend? Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: aerofaze on May 16, 2011, 10:48:56 AM TIRES:
I believe I paid a total of $320 for my tires at 303. Price included mounting. But a friend of ours vouches for MadMoto! He rides an MV Augusta and Triumph Speed Triple, and he doesn't trust many shops to work on his MV. WEEKEND RIDE: There'll be an Italian Ride with the CSC (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=39451) on Sunday. So far 10-12 bikes are saying they're going. The route will take us up north to Estes Park if the weather looks good; backup plan is to do either Deckers or Bishop's Castle. Click on the link above for more info. I know most people don't like large rides (myself included- I'm just going because I know a few of these folks), but anyone here is welcome to join. Just please let me know so we wait for you to arrive Sunday at the 7-11 near Briargate Pkwy & Lexington. I'll post this in the other thread if there seems to be enough interest... Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: KRJ on May 16, 2011, 10:32:13 PM We all started somewhere, if there is a dress code on Your britches then so be it. I have rode many miles in jeans, they will not protect your nuts as well as a $1000.oo set of leathers, but as long as You cover the rest, You should be OK. Someone else can list the "proper gear required" to fit their ride ....... Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: aerofaze on May 17, 2011, 07:55:30 AM Agree with KRJ: we all started somewhere. Jeans are fine as long as you have everything else. I'd still harass you, though. ;)
Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: DucatiTorrey on May 17, 2011, 10:09:28 AM lol thanks, yeah i ride in hiking boots to protect the ankles on long rides, jacket, gloves helmet. and jeans...
ill consider the sunday ride, sounds a bit long, but if saturday is nice and i get hiking / wife time in outside, ill consider it. otherwise, maybe just a cripple creek run for me. Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: J_Slyter on May 18, 2011, 08:14:20 AM Not sure if you've already got your tires, but Erico is doing a tire combo sale (advertised on their website). They have Pilot Power 2CT's (120/180) combo for $325 + tax installed. Not bad for a Ducati dealer, and a little better than your $345 price (assuming tax is being added to that).
I used Wheel Works when Dave Peters worked there. They gave me a good deal on Dunlop Sportmaxx's and charged me about $60 to mount on the bike last year. They charge $22.50/wheel off the bike, but not sure if that is a buy it there price or even if you bring in your own tires. Apex charges ~$29/wheel off the bike. I've also used a guy up in Monument with a big No-Mar Pro setup, he runs about $20/wheel off the bike. Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: DucatiDaveSoCo on May 18, 2011, 10:21:36 AM Hey Guys,
This is David Peters, back here at PPM, working on the BMW's and Ducati's once again. I have been talking to my managers to see what can be done about tires on your Duc's. I have been told we can match prices on Tires, just wanted you guys to know. Thanks David Title: Re: Best place in town to mount tires? (best = cheap) Post by: DucatiDaveSoCo on May 18, 2011, 10:33:23 AM Also, I called Erico Motorsports, the $325 deal looks more like $400 after all is said and done. I'm looking into matching their Tire/Labor deals, so you guys dont have to drive up to Denver.

(best = cheap) Post by: DucatiTorrey on May 19, 2011, 04:00:20 AM looks like no tired this weekend, was going to take it up to work in castle rock, then to littleton for tires, but its raining. I expected that after work, but this morning? naah. Had the rain gear out and everything (gear, ha, more like a walmart special going to summer camp rain coat and pants.)
