I was working on cleaning my 2002 750 Dark i.e. today and noticed these little black rubber washer things between the heat-sink fins on the left side of my motor. One came out before I realized they were free-floating between the fins, so I am curious about why they are there. My service manual is in the mail, so I thought someone on here could give a solid explanation of what they are for (other than leaving ugly marks where they sit...).

anti vibration.
Yup.
The miniature hockey pucks are just vibration dampeners. Sometimes they fall out as "duc droppings." Nothing to worry about.

Sometimes? How about always, eventually.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for enlightening me.
I thought they were sound dampers to help pass noise reg. Anyways I removed most of mine.
