Title: Termi / Dp Ecu / Air filter kit Power Difference?
Post by: CairnsDuc on June 14, 2008, 11:08:07 PM
G'day all,

My dealer has new Termi/DP ECU/Air filter/open air box kit (96449507B) to suit my S2R 800, I love the sound of the Termi's and they offered me a damn good price on a kit they ordered in for another customer who now seems to have done a runner.  (He paid his deposit on the kit and never returned, mind you it took nearly 4 months for the kit to arrive!!)  I was planning to get this kit at some stage, but at the price offered, I said yes on the spot!

I am wondering what difference these kits make to the power of the bike?
I have already removed the udder and had some DP bypass pipes fitted, but trying to find some hard data on the difference, even the dealers paperwork does not specify any horse power/torque increase.
1%, 5% or 10%?

I appreciate any info you may have.

I love that stuff - very educational [thumbsup]
You wouldn't happen to know how/if these comparisons changed with the Euro3 '07 engines? I expect this Brad Black person to know "everything" - at least that's what I'm used to from TOB ;) Thanks Brad B  [thumbsup]

In the case of the S4RS, Ducati claims a 13% power increase with the full Termi system and their dedicated ECU.  I don't know what's claimed for the 2v models, but a similar upgrade could very well result in a similar increase.  If it's anything like the results I got on my Tricolore, you'll love it.  Great power, great sound, and absolutey perfect fueling at all rpm.  A must-do mod, IMO.

Brad's good work bears out the Ducati HP claims with the kit producing a 10 to 14% increase in power over stock depending where in the curve you are.

A well set up full kit - open termis, ECU and open airbox will pretty much give the crankshaft claimed HP, but now at the rear wheel.

dunno about '07 S2R 800 - i never saw one.  i assume it's the same bike, but delivered with a different ecu that runs closed loop.  ecu part # is the same as the 620 or 695, which makes no sense.

the s4rs reacts much differently to the full kit than the 800 does.  the s4rs is much more restricted as delivered.

in reality, ive never heard of a huge increase of power in the 2v bikes with the termi kit. most people gain ~5hp, but a much better power curve. I remember a dude on TOB that got pissed of he didnt get the 10-15hp that some claimed, he was an 2v aircooled. Those were all S4R riders though, those 2 extra valves sure do make a difference.

Got to be honest, I'm not expecting a night and day difference in horsepower, I just want to get that "sound"
and a little extra performance, If I get 5 - 10% Extra I'll be happy.

To me a Ducati is not a Ducati until they have a great Exhaust note.  [moto]

You will be happy..  Once you run them for a little while, you'l wonder how you ever lived without them. Your bike (and your ears) will thank you!!

-If you really want a substantial power increase, you could add a set of hot cams (I am running the DP SPS cams and love the difference).. There is a Termi kit w/cans, airbox, ECU, and the cams, but I don't know if it's available for all Monsters... :-\
