My name is John, and after mulling over my first bike purchase for a few months now I decided on a 2011 M796 with ABS. I live in Jersey City, work in the city, but for the next few months my riding will be down near Long Beach Island (New Jersey shore) due to not having adequate storage at my apartment. I took the advice that I've read over the past week and enrolled myself in the basic rider's course in Paramus. Any suggestions on newbie riding routes would be greatly appreciated!
I will be out at Gettysburg Bike Week[end] (July 7th - 10th) with some family, if anyone is out there I'd love to meet up.

How you heading out that way - PA Tpke or Route 30?

That's a good question. I am not sure of the route yet, but I vaguely recall someone mentioning Route 30. I will ask this weekend and get the details. That'll be my first trip.
