Well considering I don't have a car... I do exactly that haha.
I just did the tail chop mod, and it's the easiest thing, and makes a huge difference in looks. You'll need to get an integrated tail light, and 2 little L brackets for your plate. And it takes about 15 minutes. [thumbsup]
Things i have done. Majority of it in hind-sight - really not worth it but could not help myself back then. The exception that I have no 2nd thoughts about is replacing the stock pipes. I replaced mine with Ducati Performance when she was a mere 100miles or so.
I like the black scheme on your bike. That's what I went for to my matt black. Can't really tell if you tank is black from the picture.
- replace the mickey mouse mirrors with bar end. i use CRG and like it. The only downside is you can't tell a [leo] behind you and everything really looks way way way far behind than is reality.
- remove the reflectors on the forks
- blacken the foot pegs ( i like all black and have had mine done )
- frame sliders ( for small falls, it has saved my bike. Disadvantage, if slide and it gets caught in a pothole then it will flip the bike from what i read )
- tail chop ( disadvantage the rain mud etc will fling right on to your back. other than that, it looks good )
- i changed all my signal lights to rizmo. (looks cool but way too pricey for my own good )
- i added pc commander and bored kit etc ( totally not worth it in hind-sight )
- I upgraded my suspension ( good addition but in hind-sight, i wish i saved that $ for my other bike )
- carbon fiber belt covers ( love it but after many years now it looks like shit... sun does pretty good work on it )
- working on upgrading my head light right now. (have HID bulb but now getting from DMF full set projector and lens cover )
- got integrated LED light on the back and clear lens.
- like the black lever so I would leave that alone. i got the crg shorty golden levers.
Have fun and be safe!

The family I am living with currently, the father is a huge Duc enthusiast and the first thing he ever mentioned was a tail chop, I will look into that!

The tank is actually gray, I would love to do pretty much all of the things you suggested :) I just need to get a job first! haha.
Do you all see the little white thing on the frame? That is a sticker with all the specs of the bike on it, do I need to leave that on? Or is it okay to take it off? I have no idea if you like legally have to have it on or what.
the specs sticker on mine has disintegrated. i ride my bike to work and is outside daytime so i guess that did it in.
legal issues, never gave it much thought. Kind of reminds of the sticker on the mattress ha ha
if it is a monster 600,we have the same bike [thumbsup]
i'd say yes to tail chop and i like the black footpegs..
they will look great with your black frame.!
u dont need many money to do these changes, and the look of your bike will be different ..
MIRRORS.
Relatively cheap mods:
Remove the reflectors and stickers.
Replace mirrors.
Tail chop.
Paint belt covers.
If you have 15 tooth sprocket, replace with 14 tooth.
These should all be relatively cheap and will bring tremendous joy.

Shes a 750 ;)
Put the seat cowl on, unless you're riding two up every day, just looks much better with it on.
I've been in your position (young, not much money, owning a monster, wanting to make it better). Here's my 'mod story'. Some mods were free, some cheap, and some more expensive. One thing to remember is if you have even the slightest bit of mechanical aptitude, get a haynes manual and dive in yourself, don't pay a shop to do the work!

+1 on the ride the shit out of it. as you see more monsters you'll get a better idea of how you want to mod it . . . take your time. i've been riding ducs for 10 years now (riding for 20) and i still can't help but tweak stuff every freakin week.
yes ride the living dog snot out of it. [thumbsup]
Nice bike! 1st I would get a vented clutch cover. I just bought a really nice one from a guy in Hong Kong and it was 1/2 the price of the ones at my local dealer. Then I would replace the mirrors with bar end mirrors, then chop the tail.
Those are just my top 3 recs! Have fun. And feel free to e-mail me if you're interested in that clutch cover:

Cheers,
George
Looks to me like the bike is either a 750/800 or a 600/620 with oil cooler mod and has a wet clutch. The wet clutch alone would make the suggestion of a vented clutch cover a very bad idea.
What I would do is the following...
Send me your address so I can send you a Ducati care package!
Okay So I just scored 100 bucks, I don't know how much my guardian wants out of it but now the questions is.... What should I do to my bike for 100 bucks? haha sorry guys.
Here's my contribution to your Monster project.
I'll get this in the mail tomorrow. A set of nice small turn signals. These were located on the front of my S2R800.

Additionally, if I the garage that parted my M695 still has the right rearset, i will ship those out to you as well. Will help with your black theme without having to spend the $$ on PC. They're in pretty mind condition.
Good luck with the rest of your Duc project.

As in, picked up and thrown in the back of a truck? I'm a puny little 130lb 5'10" guy and I can even pick the back end up and swing it around.
I've been wanting to take my reflectors off. It looks like ther glued on. Is that right?
Whats the best way to get them off and clean it up?
Tdubb,
Heat up the reflector with a blow dryer a bit and then twist that bad boy right off.
There will be some glue residue left behind and it can be removed with WD40 and a Terry cloth. Your bike will go approx. 10% faster after.

no, another board member (HeMan) had that happen to him--he parked it and someone dumped a ton of chinatown garbage on it.... I am just curious if it's a curse on him or on all Monsters.

LOL, note to self. Stay away from China Town.

ahahahahahhahaaa [laugh] [clap]
but he's right . . .
Show the trellis and get rid of the cf on the sides ,and of course chop it
replace those mirrors with somethng lower (less turbulence) and then ride the helll out of it.
Upgrade things as old things break. wash, rinse, continue.
