Title: 70 tire on front 60 on the rear
Post by: camatt29 on May 22, 2011, 09:58:42 PM
so about a week ago i hit something with my bike that bent the rim slightly... being that im from boondock ny there's no where to bring it for re shaping... i bought a new rim on ebay with a tire equipped the new tire is in good shape but is a 70 depth i was wondering of the ill effects on handling, if it is enough to cause irritation i would like to change it before putting the wheel back on i have the right size waiting because i just ordered new tires.... also if anyone wants a bent rim to add excitement to your ride hit me up!!!

The 70 profile will raise the front of the bike about 12 mm.  If you are not inseam challenged and you have provision for rear height adjustment you can raise the rear to compensate.  The other option is to lower the front by moving the forks in the triples.  Year and model will be helpful.  Since your new tire is on the way I would do neither.  Turn in will be slower and you might encounter some wobble or weave coming out of a turn if riding aggressively, but if you ride with reasonable caution all should be OK.  If the bike was not set up properly for you the difference might even be an improvement.
