Title: Hard luggage saddlebag Post by: smdub on May 23, 2011, 01:56:01 PM I've been doing a search to find some a hard saddlebag for a S2R (non-exh side). I'm a fabricator so can make a mount if I find something nice but I've looked though the Givi, Chase Harper, etc and haven't found anything 'nice' (IMO). IIRC, WAY back in the day someone made sport/aerodynamic looking hard saddlebags for the VFR800. Something like that.
If I had real paper catalogs searching would be easier. Most of the manufacturers websites are awful to just 'browse'. Can anyone recommend a brand/model that would look right on a monster? It has to be hard & waterproof. Would prefer something small - about big enough for a helmet. Would keep me from always having to drag a backpack to/from work or wherever else Im going. Thanks! I saw a guy take the frame from the soft case set-up and got a kit of attachment parts from Happy Trails and adapted a Touratech case.... If your making your own racks, adapting these to fit should be no problem

How does that one react to copious amounts of suntan lotion? Title: Re: Hard luggage saddlebag Post by: zooom on May 24, 2011, 10:14:41 AM How does that one react to copious amounts of suntan lotion? probably the same way a Nonfango case does...keeps water out and lets all the pressurized stuff from inside leak out when almost empty.... Title: Re: Hard luggage saddlebag Post by: seevtsaab on May 24, 2011, 10:18:52 AM I did this top case mount on the seat cowl
Fits a helmet easy, plus lunch, rainsuit, small thermos, gloves. Carried my laptop about a dozen times on my commute (25mi). Awesome to have 'lockable' storage. Awesome to not carry a backback, even though I have a good one (Kriega 20). Tank bag in reserve for traveling. http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=46221.msg882941#msg882941 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=46221.msg882941#msg882941) Title: Re: Hard luggage saddlebag Post by: smdub on May 25, 2011, 11:14:54 AM Re: pelican/touratech: Looking for something a bit sportier, not something that would look at home at the pari-dakar rally:)
seevtsaab: Thats why I want a hard case - lockable/waterproof. But I just can't get into the look of a top mount. I've had a tank bag forever on my old fizzer and figured I should engineer something more permanent for the duc since I hope to have it even longer. I was hoping for something triangular in cross section like a lot of the sport bike soft sidecases. Like the saddlebags on this one (coutesy seevtsaab's link) (http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b480/duckrider1/s2rluggage1.jpg) The Givi V35 isn't TERRIBLE looking but still not perfect in my eyes. Though I only would need the left side. Wonder if they'll sell a single as a "crash replacement".
