or perhaps this is more targeted at the Aprilia Mana....but potenitally it could bite into the 696 market?!?!? -discuss Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! Post by: Monster Dave on May 24, 2011, 11:09:26 AM The pixilated spy shot looks an aweful lot like the 1000r

Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! Post by: Latinbalar on May 24, 2011, 11:18:36 AM Well it looks like the forks are non-inverted and there is a dss. but last i checked honda had one of these.
(http://www.bikewallpaper.tk/resimler/honda-599-hornet-2004-4.jpg) Honda 599 almost bought one till i realized that the monster was 1k cheaper and looks a whole lot better. Honda 599 almost bought one till i realized that the monster was 1k cheaper and looks a whole lot better. I nearly bought a 599 as well but the guy sold it out from under me. Glad he did though, because I eventually found my Monster which is what I wanted in the first place. Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! Post by: ItsaDuc on May 24, 2011, 01:37:59 PM The looks are just so uninspired. I mean, its just O K. I'm sure like all the other rip offs of Monsters, it works great and will no doubt sell a bunch but.....eh.
I guess its similar to Toyota selling so many "eh" cars. Good form and function, but lacking otherwise. Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! Post by: Grrrly on May 24, 2011, 02:34:10 PM looks like it's meant to compete with all the other similar nakeds (ie Yamaha FZ8) ... not necessarily the Monster.

Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! Post by: ducatiz on May 26, 2011, 08:46:26 AM Honda has so much development money, they will make an engine/bike just because.

(http://motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic_bikes/honda_cbx1000z.jpg) good one indeed. point is, if honda wanted to make a rotary engined bike with 3 seats and a gerbil, they could do it without flinching. Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! Post by: arai_speed on May 26, 2011, 11:17:48 AM ...all the other rip offs of Monsters... I've read this sentiment before and I'm curious if the Monster holds a patent as the only naked bike ever made? (rhetorical question) I mean, when I look at this Honda it looks NOTHING like a monster, new or old...so I'm curious...where does the above sentiment come from? Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! The Monster really popularized it though. Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! The Monster really popularized it though. there were others before the Monster, but like diz said, Ducati iconosized it. The Bandit 400 was one of my faves. (http://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/suzuki-history/1989/1989_bandit400_450.jpg) and while I have always loved the Honda Hawk GT/NT650, it was never a popular wide spreak model here, but it blew the doors off a lot of people's expectations in action. Title: Re: Honda Monster?!?! Post by: bikepilot on May 31, 2011, 04:44:54 AM Heck in the '70s everything was naked and moster-ish. I love the looks of the monster, but it hardly started or made popular naked bikes. Maybe it rekindled the love that had withered a bit over the previous decade and is probably one of the all-time best looking production machines ever made ;D
As for the honda in the op, a 700cc parallel twin with an automatic - sounds more like a maxi-scooter than a motorcycle [laugh] |
