Title: regarding Malibu
Post by: Privateer on May 27, 2011, 10:14:57 PM
heard this from the rock store photo guy:

the LASD has been running a Sunday sting. They cruise The Snake in a slow moving civilian cage, usually sporting limo tint. When a bike cross the double yellow to pass the slow cage, the officer radios ahead to a waiting cruiser and a ticket is issued. All in the interests of 'motorcycle safety'. Certainly nothing to do with revenue generation...

I've yet to meet another cop that gives two shits about "revenue generation." I've never been personally told to increase cites for any reason other then, "we are seeing more collisions at such and such intersection."

If there are constant problems with moto riders that are endangering themselves and other drivers/riders, this sting sounds like an easy way to actually catch the problem riders.

well as long as the slow moving cage is actually "going the speed limit" i don't see a problem with the sting so to speak.  crossing the double yellow on a blind corner is crazy up there.  now if the cage was purposefully going too slow under the speed limit thereby causing traffic back ups and such then the "sting" would be totally bogus and you can't argue that it would be there for revenue only.

let me be clear that what I quoted was exactly what the rock store photo guy typed.  that is, I copy and pasted it.  Maybe I could have left out the opinion part, but I wasn't thinking that far ahead.  Lesson learned for next time.

I didn't post that up to start some asinine argument about is it revenue generating or not, only to save people from getting a ticket for something some people do without thinking twice.

Warning appreciated Privateer!  Thanks!

One more reason to avoid that place on a Sunday.

Thanks for the heads up!  I was up there on Saturday and had a great time...I miss those ridiculously tight turns.

Most cars can't go the speed limit on that section of road.
