Ducati is pretty good at hiding details during testing. They'll install dummy body panels, false covers, and sometimes even false components to keep people from seeing things they don't want seen.

There are aluminum castings to hold the swingarm pivot and rearsets, but that's all I see. Also note the "vertical", though in this case we should probably say "rearward" exhaust exiting the cylinder directly beneath the rider's ass. Sexy 10 spoke wheels, too! I think this is going to be revolutionary for Ducati in the way the XX9 series had HOPED to be (as opposed to the XX9 "Redvolution"). The clean-slate redesign may be just what the brand needs to get back into kicking everyones ass in WSBK again. I cant wait to see more. The plate mount/turn signals do look like somewhat of an afterthought though. One can only hope they use some [bacon] in the bloodline.

Delivery will begin in the March/April time frame and will be made in order of deposit receipt...so the sooner you make a deposit, the sooner you'll receive your new bike.
Price for the base model will be in the $18k range. The "S" model will be more, of course. There will also be a "Tricolore" model for a premium over the "S" model. Get 'em while they're hot. There was a big stink about the bike smoking quite a bit during the break-in period. ;DSeveral guys reported that the bike engine would cut out at a certain gear and RPM and that they could replicate it at will. One reported a non start situation after he had the bike for less than 24 hrs. Me, I'm just sad that they had to "Jap" it all up, hence the magazines praising it now. Factory suspension or linkage set up seems to be an issue. The factory setting is F and many prefer P. Hard starting while the engine is at operating temp seems to be another concern. My Supersport is a hammer, the Panigale is a surgical instrument.
It felt very planted the whole ride, even when the rear broke loose a bit rolling out of a corner (I think the traction control took over), the suspension, the power, and handling are phenomenal, the engine is fairly flat until the upper RPM range - a little bit of studdering at 5-6K, and the seat gets hot. The bike feels smaller than the SS and has a shorter reach to the grips, wind protection is less than the SS, but smoother with absolutely no buffeting. The digital readout is easy to read. Some thoughts: The tank design and how the legs fit around it are a great improvement to the 1098s. I felt more "one with the bike" than I did on my 1098s. I missed hearing the clutch. :-\ Power delivery down low wasnt as bad as I have heard. Granted, my 1098s had one down on the sprocket, so its not a true apples to apple comparison, but overall I feel the 1098s has more lower range. Get above 7k on the rpm and hold-the-make the beast with two backs-on!! It is a beast in the upper rev limits. Really a powerful bike. Overall, I think its a beauty.
