Title: Monster 1100 First Pictures with some Mods Post by: danb. on June 02, 2011, 12:04:41 AM Hey guys, I am new here and this is my first time posting my bike. I got the bike with 8,000 miles on it and I am ready to start modding. I am looking for a nice carbon exhaust system and also misc. carbon fiber parts. Also, I am wondering if anyone can guide me on how to remove the front fairing and also the grey plastic part around the headlight because I want to spray it black. Hope you like the pictures.

To remove the headlight surround you have to first remove the mini-fairing, then the speedo cluster, then you can remove the two lower mounting bolts (on the lower triple) and then the whole assembly can lift out of the two top rubber mounts (naturally you'll also disconnect the headlight and turn signal wiring ;)). Been a while since I had mine apart, but I think thats pretty much it. Title: Re: Monster 1100 First Pictures with some Mods Post by: Mhanis on June 02, 2011, 06:08:03 AM [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
That will look sick with carbon exhausts. [beer] Congrats! This just unscrews with four hex screws, two either side of the speedo, from the inside of the fairing. You have to unplug the speedo (which wipes your clock and trip meter) but not remove it. The two nuts Ungeheuer mentioned, on the lower tripple, need to be losened and you can then wiggle the headlight off the mounting pins at the top. You then need to unplug all the electrics but after that I can't help you, as I never dismantled the assembly itself to get at the plastic surround.

I've got the same one but the stock rim color. I like the black though. (http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss158/izaac10_album/Monsters_2.jpg) Remember..get the whole exhaust system if you want to hear this bike's true sound. I just bought the slip-on Arrow Darks so the real v-twin sound doesn't come out until it's on the highway. [thumbsdown] MIVV makes some sick CF suonos! If you haven't discovered them on youtube..check them out.
