Luckily I do have a spare black key... but now I need a new "spare black key". I'd like it to have the Duc logo on it because I'm a snot (well not really but... I just want it).

Its a 2006 S2R if that makes a difference.  Yes, I have the red key and stuff but I since I still have a black key, I thought its not a big deal.

Help?

You can use the red key to re-program another black key, at least you can on the 999's.

I don't know how much help I can be but I think a key blank can be flashed to the ECU as long as you still have the red key. Not sure where to buy one though.

I really just wanted to tell you how great this story was. Sucks about the key but it is pretty funny.

Yeah, I was just wondering where to buy a key with the logo on it like the one in the Chicago sewers now.

Ah, good call.  Just checked probably don't as the key won't work for the S2R, only for the following:

- 748 Superbike   91-01
- 916 Superbike   91-01
- 996 Superbike   91-01
- 998 Superbike   91-01
- Monster           91-01   
- Supersports      91-01

i'd say, just go to the dealer or order it though proitalia/commoto/cacycleworks if you want one with the logo.

Thanks for the help. I guess I can go to the dealer and ask.  Just scared they're going to tell me that its $300 to replace the key.  I didn't think they could do it to be honest.

If you had to lose a key, this has to be one of the best ways. This will give you something to laugh about a year from now.

The last time I 'lost' a bike key I ended up having to cut out the ignition, and pry the cas cap off and buy replacements. A month after I got the replacements, I found the 'lost' key.   [laugh]

I sent my lonely one black key off to SOS Diagnostics in Oregon and they were great to work with.  You'll be key/bikeless for a week or two (I did mine over winter to avoid such heartbreak) but it was like $40 bucks and works great.  You won't have the pretty "D" on the key anymore, but.......
