Title: Mixing synthetic and conventional oil 50/50?? Post by: Airborne on June 05, 2011, 03:51:17 AM I have an interesting problem in a 4 stroke waverunner I own powered by the marine version of the yam. R1 engine. Basically I can only change 50% of the oil at a time when I do an oil change. Because there is no drain plug I have to suck the oil out of the pan with a pump. I dont know what kind of oil the dealer used so Im not sure what will happen if i put in synthetic in. I googled this but just got a bunch of internet voodoo. I'm assuming it will be fine and that there is currently yamalube in there right now.

If you're pumping the oil out, why can't you get all of it? Title: Re: Mixing synthetic and conventional oil 50/50?? Just by way of design, you can only get the hose for the pump into a certain spot of the pan allowing only 2 1/2 quarts to be changed at a time. Yes, its silly. Post by: Airborne on June 05, 2011, 04:10:50 AM actually just found out the oil cap. for the r1 is just over 3qts so I am changing more than I thought. The idea of not being able to get it all still bothers me though.
