Robocop is a combat robot/cyborg. The Terminator(s) is a combat robot.
Johnny 5 was a pussy.

Wall*E looks funny though. Does this movie remind you of the one with the little flying space round things that hung around earth? wtf was it called.

OK, sorry. Johnny 5 was designed to be a combat robot...

holy shit. someone needs to help me find hte name of this freaking movie.

I saw it back in 1993-1996 on WPIX sunday afternoon movies (wb11 in my area) The plot, i think... was this kid finds a robot toy thingy and tries to get it to work. No joy, but they end up plugging them in and they come alive. they talk and are shaped like round dics. They spin and hover. The move was called something like now energized, or engerizers, or recharable something. I have no idea. I cant even find a pic of the robots!

just saw it and was suprised how adult some of the themes were for a disney/pixar flick  but then noticed the kids around me  did not pick up on it. Very cool multi generational film with cute references to pop culture that should keep the mst3k and director's narrated types fully occupied.  bit slow in the middle but a 4.5 out of 5 sprockets
[clap]
also highly recommend  Kung Fu Panda.  can't get that theme song out of head!!

skadoosh indeed   [moto]

???  ALL of the Pixar films have had some subtle innuendos!  Some not as subtle.  Are they becoming more open?

Going to go at some point this week.

Saw it! Great movie.  [thumbsup] Pixar has an amazing ability of bringing personality into their characters. And their animated shorts before the main feature are just plain clever and brilliant.  [thumbsup]

Made a double-feature out of it with Hancock.  [evil]

I didn't think this one had innuendos, but was out right anti-walmart (large global corporations ruling the earth), and the portrayal of humans as dependent on technology to the point that ALL were morbidly obese. It was like a 'what if we keep going down the same path of excess we are on now" hypothetical.

I understand that kids don't pick up on it, but there's a lot of underlying messages / themes going on.

I enjoyed the movie.

Saw it last night.  Great movie!  Its amazing they can convey the range and depth of emotion using only facial expressions and bodu positioning.  Especially when the face is little more than a pair of binoculars and the body is just a box with arms and tank treads. [laugh]

Outstanding! [thumbsup] [clap]

Excellent movie!!!

I made sure I went to see it at a theater with a digital projector. The graphics were AMAZING! There was a shot or 2 that I couldn't believe was CG.

I liked the fact that there were some good stretches (especially at the beginning) where there was no talking in the film...I had heard some complaints about that, but I think the expressions of Wall-E more than made up for the lack of dialogue.

Plus, I really liked Pixar's little jab at our massive consumerism. I thought it was great. Plus, whats funnier than a space ship full of fat people? Nothing.  [laugh]

Agreed, it was excellent.  But don't think Disney/Pixar is really all that against our massive consumerism.  Just wait, come the fall all the cool kids will be sporting the Wall*E lunch box (http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Pixar-Wall-E-Lunchbox-Lunch/dp/B001B0ZWW4/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1215463616&sr=8-32)
