Hi, i'm building from hash a new monster 696+...
i already own the engine (brand new !!) + injection corp + wiring..
i already have the front forks too : complete with brakes, calipers, controls, etc..and the rear arm (don't remember the name...not so good at English speaking.. !)
My question is :
Do you think i can put my new engine and my front forks in a old monster frame ? will it work ??? or it will need some machining ?
i eared that that is the dash board is going with keys to start the bike. (my Multistrada is the ECU that need going with the Key...)
<<< but i build this bike for track day. is there an option to just have a push button to start the engine and avoid the immobilizer, keys, a put a "track" dash board instead of the original one ? (weight save, lot of money save (900 â,¬ for a dash and keys... [bang]) and more simple !) but i don't know how to do it, i'm not so bad at mechanics but electricity is my nightmare...!
if any got some info i'll take it for sure !!!
here is the link to my introduction with some pics : http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=49858.0 (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=49858.0)
Many thanks anyway

I just got a 2001 750 SS and im going to follow up on anwsers .... GREAT IDEA [popcorn] The SS tanks rock .
here's my info with old and new parts
-The motor should be an easy swap.
-the forks (if 696 forks) will actually be longer than old monster forks (I had a pair of S4R that were too short to use on my 696) so you will have to pull them through a bit to match stock ride height but this is not a problem.
-the swingarm (if a 696) will NOT work on an old monster frame. You have to use the swingarm that matches the frame. or another that at least matches the suspension type.
-You can get the ECU reflashed to remove the immobilizer

I'm assuming shock placement/length.. But can anyone clarify the issues with fitting a 696 swinger on an older frame like a M900 or similar?
