Title: Wounded Warrior Lemons auto racers wanted.
Post by: Cagey on June 14, 2011, 06:32:37 AM
http://www.woundedwarriorracing.com/ (http://www.woundedwarriorracing.com/)
Sort of off topic, but this brand new charitable cause is looking for beneficiaries (wounded warriors) who want to help race their car this weekend at Summit Point. (I'll be a donor/driver.) Anyone know anyone? Just use the contact they provide for donations to tell Speedycop (Jeff Bloch, U.S. Park Police Horse Mounted Unit) about any potential drivers. He's running short, and would be happy to hear from you. Thanks!

I know you told me about this before - but how about some more info. Times - when people would need to be there etc.

Really considering it...

Nice!..

What's the Stint about if you donate $100 or more?. I'm going to donate $100 for my woundeed brothers and sisters. If anybody wants the stint let me know, as I won''t make it there .

"Stints will be 10 laps on the 2.2 mile Shenandoah Circuit, or roughly 20 minutes of flat-out wheel-to-wheel endurance road racing!"

Good stuff, thanks for posting it up Scott.  Not sure how something can be off topic in a thread you created for it though.   ;)

You should try to attend the drivers' meeting the day you go (Sat 9:00 or Sun 11:00), but it's not absolutely necessary, and then Jeff would try to fit you in for a stint. It isn't really a straight 24-hour race; it's a 16.5-hour race spread over 2 days. You would kind of have to commit a large part of the day, and you can help wrench if you want and if needed. I don't think you would be bored on Saturday, during which 12 hours of the race is run, because Hyperfest (http://www.hyper-fest.com/ (http://www.hyper-fest.com/)) will be going on at the same time.

All gear is provided, and Jeff is even getting some fireproof undergarments (required) at cost, and asking that donors (not warriors) contribute $25 toward that cost.

I meant if you had to, you could move this to the forum titled "Friggin cages/events/mid-atlantic."  :)
