Jumped in with cold feet, bought a cheapie propane smoker for $100 (found a deal on SD.net).

ABT's with cream cheese, chorizo, wrapped in pepper bacon.
Tomorrow morning I'll start a 10 lb butt, and maybe next weekend I'll try some ribs.
Did you bring enough for the whole class?
(because I really want to eat that now.)
Looks great. Good job.
Is that a meatloaf? Nothing like smoked loaf. [thumbsup]
Looking good. [thumbsup]

+1 [thumbsup] Yummy! ;D [bacon] I have a friend that is the king of smokers and grilling. He could make an old tennis shoe melt in your mouth. Wish I had that cooking talent. All I can do is the dishes... but I'm damn good at it. ;D
Have fun with it.

It's amazingly easy. When I bought my smoker I wasn't sure about it, but after the first try I laughed at how simple it is. Maintain your temp and resist the temptation to peek (a lot) and you're golden. Experimenting with different rubs and brines is tasty fun.
If I can do it, so can you. :)
Cool! I have watched my friend in a decent drunken moment whip together a dry rub from stuff he picked out of the cabinet probably not even knowing what he was doing and crank out incredible results! No shit, on a bad day I eat better at his west TX ranch than I ever do at home! [clap] [popcorn] [bacon] [bow_down] The dude can cook! [thumbsup]... even somewhat drunk! [drink]
Well in fairness... in west Texas "somewhat drunk" translates to VERY VERY drunk anywhere else in the world.
Drinking and BBQing go hand in hand. [beer]
Nothing much better than some good BBQ and homebrew.

[laugh] Yeah, dinner time usually ends up being closer to 11:00pm than not. [drink] [beer] [wine]

Not a load, but a "nakid fattie".
Don't make the mistake I did and google "nakid fattie"....the results are nothing like what you see here [laugh]
so... when are you going to re-fabricate those grates out of titanium then?

Here's a pair of beauties we made on our annual northern MN drunken fishing trip last year:

They were gone in minutes. Pure, concentrated, delicious evil. :)
My Dad makes a mean bacon bomb.
Unfortunately, you pay the fiddler the next day.
Did these today + Ribs

Ribs are resting...if they last long enough I'll get pics. :D
I think we're gonna have to create an Official BBQ Thread.....
Great idea. I just started smoking on my charcoal grill. So far the results have been outstanding for chicken and pork. Going to try smoking some sweet potatoes this weekend if I can find a wood that provides a sweeter flavor. Any suggestions.
