Title: M1100s exhaust
Post by: chiu on June 17, 2011, 03:41:25 AM
Hi everyone,

I am driving a M1100s 2010 version, and i am going to purchase a exhaust. Is it possible to make the exhaust go out to one side like M1100evo??
Any brand suggest?? In fact my first choice is Termi., but can i purchase the M1100evo Termi exhaust for my M1100s?
Thanks.

It is breaking the law in Hong Kong if using single can.....do you know if it is possible to install the 1100evo exhaust onto the 1100s??
Thanks.

You'd have to look at the Evo spare parts manual and compare that against yours to make an educated guess. If the 2010 has all the mounting provisions as the Evo, I don't see why not. You'd have to get all the right fasteners and such, but it's doable.

Personally, I like the dual high cans :); the Evo cans block the SSSA.

Why would that be?  As long as the sound (DB) and emissions are the same what difference does it make...?

Yes, i know it will block the SSSA. I would like to change to side output exhasut because my girlfirend feel so hot on her leg when she sitting on the rear, so I would like to change the output to the side.

Anyone knows the sound of the above exhaust, is it much louder than the stock exhaust? Even louder than the Termignoni exhaust?
Cause it will break the law in Hong Kong if it is too loud of the exhaust.
Thanks.

Mark offers different baffles.  I think he can build from Euro legal to ear bleed.  Contact him directly.  If you could find out about the local codes and test method I'm sure it would help.

They use either regular or loud baffles.

Better to speak to Mark directly.

Just call the dealer , they told me the 1100evo exhaust can't install onto my 1100s. They said the foot peg position is not the same. As one know is it the true?

no, the heat shield and possibly the shape of the rear of the fuel tank.
noone is sure of the exhaust ports. the evo is a single spark plug instead of a dual and pretty certain new heads altogether

not to say I think an evo fuel tank (or at least the fuel pump shield) + rearsets + exhaust wouldn't work on an 1100S... but that's pricey  for all that unless you find it on ebay.

what is the law in HK about exhausts? I think if you check out that first, we might be able to offer some ideas on exhausts.

personally I can't see why that single sided one can leo vince wouldn't work as many motorcycles have single cans. with a db killer in that can i bet it is as quiet as stock. and it's lower than the stock so your girlfriends legs won't get hot

Sorry, i have misunderstanding. Hong Kong law allow single can, it don't allow the exhaust come out from the engine directly. Because it's so loud. It fit Hong Kong Law said that any changing of the vehicle whic is not the OEM parts, it will break the law. So i need to find a not louder than the stock exhaust so if I pass through a police road block, they won't think My exhaust is not stock one.
I am considering the 1100evo side exhaust is because I like Termi exhaust a lot, so if it is possible, i would like to change the Termi exhaust for 1100evo. It looks good~

yeah the boomtubes will definitely get you stopped.

the termis with no db killers will get you stopped

in fact any exhaust with no db killers will get you a ticket

BUT any aftermarket exhaust with a good db killer and absordbing cans (ie no the boomtubes) will get your noise level down.

THe real issues for you should be fitment (does it fit on your year bike) and placement (does it reduce the heat on the passenger's legs)

The 1100 evo exhaust, in my opinion, will be more difficult to do than anything made directly for your 1100s

you can look into ceramic coating the headers too in order to reduce the heat somwhat... no idea where you can get that done in hk though.

if you cant get it ceramic coated, wrapping the pipes will also reduce the heat, and from what i've heard, more heat reduction than the ceramic coating.  but then you have to make sure to watch out for rust on the headers.

Don't know the boomtunes with the db killer will have quieter sound?
No one reply from that site.

What is the db limit in HK?

They didn't have a db limit. As they will identify you have break the law when they found that something is not the OEM parts of the bike. Nothing can be change on the vehicles unles we got a permit. So chaning any exhaust is illegal. So I have thinking to change a exhaust which sound almost similar to the stock exhaust, to prevent making too many noise in the street, so i may avoid the police road block.

Maybe your best bet is to core the stock exhaust to gain more volume. It would still be the OE parts, just louder.

You should trade in your s for a new evo.  That is the only way to guarantee those pipes will fit. :D

Look at aftermarket systems that don't have logos on them then, and stay away from anything but unpolished Aluminum.
I bet you could do a nice aftermarket system that would do everything you want and still not draw the police attention.. well unless they know what is supposed to be on a Monster 1100S.

OR.. go to the Ducati dealer and do all the research on the Evo to see what parts need to change.
