Hi folks,
Lets just say I'm gonna DIY changing the belts and clutch on the Monster, is it really critical to use a proper torque wrench instead of the usual tendon/elbow wrench? Btw, I'm new to this monster ownership thing so...... thanks for any insights.
I've work on other types of bikes before and never saw the need to Get a torque wrench, dunno why I'm suddenly concerned
:)
It's cheap insurance. For plenty of stuff you're fine w/o but do you really want the clutch bolts backing out?
Having done a clutch - the hub nut it takes more force than you'd think
I use them but I'm more anal retentive than most.
The belts you should be fine without but I would get some new fuji shoulder locknuts for the eccentrics.
You won't need to remove the basket to do a new clutch pack but if you are going to do the basket you'll need to torque to something like 190NM (S4) which is not so easy to gauge without a wrench.
Pressure plate springs should be hand tight and can strip easily.
