My M695 charging system has been working fine, but some other work required me to disconnect the stator/regulator connector under the seat. Spade connection at one of the three yellow wires was crispy/black/melted. I understand this is generally due to poor/dirty electrical connection and resulting high reistance and heat. I think I caught it before any components were damaged, but the connector might be fubar.
Is there a recommended fix, for example a different style connector, contact grease, etc.?

Eastern Beaver will sell you replacement connectors as well as improved watertight ones. They ship from Japan, takes about a week to the Eastern USA.
I ended up cutting the burned connector and butt-splicing/soldering longer leads. Then replaced the VR with the Shindengen MOSFET one and now use Furakawa watertight connectors from Eastern Beaver. Seems to be working fine, and is only warm to the touch.
That is EXACTLY what I needed to see. Now seriously considering the Shindengen...
Does the Furakawa connector still fit through the frame opening for normal wire routing?
Thanks! [thumbsup]

You are on target with your question. I had built a bracket for the VR after I removed the oil separator tank. The bracket had the VR mounting holes in the centerline, which worked for the Ducati VR, but did not allow enough clearance for the Furukawa connectors. I had to drill new mounting holes about 1/2" towards the right of the bike. This allows everything to fit fine, but it is tight.
i know i might hear $hit for doing this, but i cut the connectors out and soldered the wires and shrink tubed'em.

The only negative to that is in the future diagnosis and part replacement are less convenient. The plus is you are less likely to need this convenience.
Here's some interesting trivia I stumbled across....seems the 2010 multistrada uses a modern shindengen mosfet regulator....pn 54040301A....maybe the first ducati model to spec one?
Anyway, looks like the usual yamaha shindengen part might be a no-go unless I ditch the separator tank or mount underside?
