Title: '99 Monster City - bars and seat cowl questions
Post by: Destructobot on June 22, 2011, 11:14:35 AM
I recently picked up a '99 Monster City with no seat cowl and clip ons.  I'd like to switch it back to regular bars and add a color-matched cowl.  I found this cowl on ebay:

Super cheap and unpainted.  Any idea how much I could expect to pay to have a local auto shop color match the blue paint and spray it?  Also, where can I get mounting hardware?  monsterparts lists it but is out of stock.

Second, regarding the bars - I have the stock top triple with mounting holes for risers.  Will the super sexy speedymoto risers fit that top triple?  I'd love to put a set of those with the tapered Rizoma bars on there.  $$$ but looks great.

you might take one of the other painted parts (front fender?) to a painter and ask if they can match it.

cowl brackets have been backordered for awhile, might want to call around duc dealers and find one with some on the shelf.
(they usually sell every part individually: L-R brackets, 4 mounting bolts, 2 thumb screws

speedy risers wont fit, wrong spacing
93-01 take the same mounting.
might want to look for some used ones (and then powdercoat if they look mangy)
once you have the risers/bolts/top cap, you could use other bars if you want.
the city ones were uber-tall

Did any other bikes share the Showa forks on the '99 M900?  I have a hunch the same forks (or at least same top triple clamp) may have been used on a ton of Japanese bikes, which would mean a lot of used bar risers will fit my '99.

The risers bolt to the triple clamp, not the fork.  The triple is a ducati, not show, part.

Will the risers from a 2001 M900 fit my '99?
