I've got the manual, my red key, my good black key, and my new unregistered black key.

I've got my manual and read the procedure.

I put the red key in ignition, waited at least 30 seconds (like the instruction says) and turn red key to ON.

No countdown or "1-30" indication on right LED, just "LO" oil temp blinker.

Any thoughts on this one?  I read through some threads on the old DML but didn't find squat, just people saying, "Do the procedure".

I ran into the same problem.  The manual is wrong - maybe an old procedure - my display didn't have the countdown either.  Brad Black gave his procedure and it worked for me.

"red key in. turn on. turn off within a second or so. fit original black key. repeat. fit new black key. repeat. refit red key. repeat. turn on with red key and leave on for 15 or so seconds. turn off for at least a minute. fit black key and start.

make sure you only have one key near the ignition at once."

Two black keys - no more no less - or I couldn't get it to work.  I think the first part - when turning the red key on, you need to wait until a light blinks but that should happen within the second or so before turning it off.

I did see that part you mentioned after going back through the old site.  I'm wondering if the "1-30" thing only comes up if you have to re-initialize (due to replacement) of any of the components, not just one black key?

Ordered it from Ducati Seattle.

Thanks so much for the info - I just reprogrammed my new black key successfully. It worked first time. Like you, I was looking for the 1-30 display that never appeared.
