Title: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: live2ride on June 25, 2011, 08:17:25 AM I'm currently on the TN,Va,NC border, about 1000 miles from home and my kickstand bolt fell out somewhere. Heading westwards but the dealer in knoxville says it out of stock.
Anyone know the size of the bolt? Would I be able to find one that fits at a hardware store? Or anywhere in the area that might sell the part besides ultimate toyz in Knoxville? Thanks. Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: Airborne on June 25, 2011, 08:23:36 AM pm heman, he knows

Steel kickstand or aluminum? Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: live2ride on June 25, 2011, 09:28:38 AM 2000 monster 750 dark.
Not sure what its made of but it's black Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: Speeddog on June 25, 2011, 09:57:02 AM That would be steel.
In either case, the bolts are not typical hardware store stuff, they're a bit special. Best of luck to ya! Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: Spidey on June 25, 2011, 10:00:06 AM Put ductape on the side of your tank, the end of your handle bars, your cowl and the front part of your frame (all to prevent scratches). Turn it into a leaner for now --lean your bike against a pole or a wall when you stop. Make sure it's in gear. A towel or thick T-shirt will work too.
Good luck, mang. [Dolph] Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: booger on June 25, 2011, 10:10:31 AM Find a Fastenal somewhere around there; there's gotta be one around someplace fairly close. The bolt size for an '06 S2R800 is M10x1.5; there is a good chance it's the same for your bike. Put some blue threadlocker on that sumpregnant dog and torque to 36 NM (26.5 lb/ft). Then enjoy the rest of your ride back.
Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: live2ride on June 25, 2011, 11:14:13 AM Well my trip only began 3 days ago. Got 27 more to go. TN to AR to OK to NM to CO to UT to AZ to CA then northern route home. I gotta find the part somewhere. Unfortunately, I pass through Memphis on Sunday. I'll have to hope I can find it in sante fe area next week. It's gonna be a crappy week whenever I stop apparently...
Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: Speeddog on June 25, 2011, 01:11:32 PM According to the parts catalogues, this is the bolt:
55610181D The pivot bolt for your shifter (Part# 80A053548) will fit, just needs a matching nut. It's not a particularly good solution IMO, but better than a 'leaner'. All of the above is contingent that your bike still has the OEM steel stand. Given that the bike is ~11 years old, PO's could have done anything. :-\ Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: muskrat on June 25, 2011, 06:10:09 PM check Bellisimoto in Knoxville. Also, OK City has a shit ton of "hard to find" parts or try Dallas where there are three dealers.
Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: redxblack on June 25, 2011, 08:54:16 PM That's a hard to find bolt. I had to visit three dealers to find one, and I got the last in stock at the third shop. Good luck!!

It took me a few days though and in the meantime I was able to lean the bike everywhere I went on the soft saddle bags. If I didn't have bags, I'd probably just wrap a t-shirt around the grab rail and lean it there. Title: Re: Need help- urgent. Kickstand bolt Post by: live2ride on June 26, 2011, 09:06:23 PM Thanks guys.
Luckily, I found some nice guys at bloodworth motorsports in Nashville. They left the part outside as they were closed and got it fixed. Too bad it rained so much. The downpour was so bad I had to run to Arkansas to get away. |
