I found the owner through the local dealer, GP Motorcycles in San Diego. Was going to be put on consignment but dealer gave me first shot at it as I've been looking for this exact bike for a while. Two weeks ago I met the owner and took a ride and fell in love! The problem was....when the owner took it out of the garage and rode it for a day or two, he had second thoughts and took it off the market ???. I started looking for other options, but for the same price I was only finding bone stock S2R800's and 1000's for $more! Dejected, I called the owner again and made him a slightly higher offer ($500), and he took it! I think it's still a smokin' deal for what I'm getting and I'm beyond pumped. I have to wait until Tuesday when he's off work to do the deal, but I have his word that it's as good as mine. More pics to follow!
Outstanding! Congrats on the new scooter. [clap] I guess it doesn't need to be mentioned but... have fun on it! [thumbsup] [Dolph]
THAT is in beautiful bike. First mod... rip those fork reflectors off!
Indeed, and choppy chop the tail.
my vote: keep the reflectors and the tail.
great looking bike.
I've heard of liking the tail but NEVER the reflectors... [puke]
they're functional. i ride my bike night and day, rain or shine, so both of those items are nice to have.
If you've ever seen a bike go by at night that DOESN'T have reflectors, you would likely be an advocate for having them. I don't ever ride at night really and I'm definitely going to do wheel stripes to help with side visibility.
nice bike! they make reflective black tape. I have cut little strips off and taped them to some palces where you cant even tell. like the airbox, inside teh frame, wraped around a slider, on the fork. etc.
just a little 1" strip adds up if u put them in 3 or 4 locations.
Ohhhhhh shit yea! That's sexual for sure mate. Great colour scheme.
Enjoy it! (Like it would be possible not to!!)
I ride day/night, rain/shine, cold/hot, 12 months out of the year. It's my only mode of transportation. Red reflective wheel tape and strategically placed reflective black tape does a better job than the fork reflectors and looks WAY better IMO. But I realize everyone has different tastes. To each his own... long as you're ridin', right? [Dolph]
congrats! the prettiest Monstro
That is a awesome bike !!! [Dolph] Congrats !!! [thumbsup]
congrats :D
i was hanging out with a guy that has the same bike with the same colors... gorgeous in person.
i love the white bike/red frame look... the only ones that i might like more is the senna grey/red combo.
Nice lookin bike! I got my '07 S4R last November, enjoy!
I'm jealous
beautiful bike

Congrats dude! I'm glad everything worked out. Like I was saying to you before, I would take my S4RS over my S2R1k any time! Good choice!
Congrats! You'll be very happy! I love my S4RS.

That's a great idea! I'll have to pick up some!
You will love the bike. I hope I didn't jinx myself today when I noted at 37,500 mi. mine has never missed a beat.
I haven't done much to mine except raise the rear 1" and put a 14 tooth front sprocket on and some brake tech rotors when mine warped. The 14 tooth is good for 62 mph at 4000 rpm in 6th and NO shifting required to accelerate with authority from that speed.
If the db killers are in I'd take em out. Makes an extra over 10 lb.ft. of torque down low with them out.
You can bump around and make no notice or hit the loud handle and ride a short shiftin' hooligan's dream.
And by the way, I think the tail and reflectors look fine too.
Enjoy!
LA
Oh yes, two new wheels, 8 valves, and 400 pounds of fun in the garage. I am beyond pumped! ;D. Super easy transaction at GP Motorcycles in San Diego, Josh really helped move it along considering the PO had it financed, and his buddy was on the title, weird... Tommy the head tech even drove it on his truck 30 minutes to my house because I couldn't get a ride down there.
Small issue, the tank is veeeeery badly warped. The PO had no idea that there were warranty options so had ignored it. GP has already started the claim for me and I'll have a new tank soon hopefully. Good thing because there are some zipper scratches and key knicks.
I'm grinning from ear to ear and can guarantee I'm going to be late to work tomorrow [Dolph]
Are you kidding me?

Nooooow I know why people put these in their living rooms!
Anyone in So. Cal. want to ride on Saturday?!?
Nice!! Now you'll have to find a place to park it at Laguna Saca next month ;D

Congrats on your new ride! I can say this is also my favorite color scheme ;-)

Here is a list of a few "mods" that I would recommend:
1) Radiator cover: http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/7652/Accessories/7652.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/7652/Accessories/7652.html)
2) Oil Cooler cover: http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/7653/Accessories/7653.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/7653/Accessories/7653.html)
3) Grippy footpegs: http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/FPR0022/Controls/FPR0022.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/FPR0022/Controls/FPR0022.html)
Is the tip of the brake lever broken? You can get a replacement for less then $30 bucks.
Great suggestions. I'm thinking integrated tail light also. The lever tip is broken, but the PO is mailing me a set of gold anodized CRG folding levers that he has. If for some reason he flakes, I'll pick up a replacement soon. It's a bit hard to get the finesse with only half a lever there.
Cool - that should go nice if you also do a tail chop.
Not sure if your bike has one but you can also get a clutch slave cylinder:
http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/CLU0116/Clutch-Brakes/CLU0116.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/CLU0116/Clutch-Brakes/CLU0116.html)
I have one on my bike (Oberon) and it does decrease the amount of lever pull - this is very useful during rush hour traffic.
Lastly, lots of people drop down to a 14T sprocket (I'm one of them) this makes the bike more peppy around town at the expense of a few MPH up on top.
Congrats! I'm in San Diego too and just picked up a 2012 Monster 1100 EVO last weekend.
We should get a bunch of us together for a Ducati meetup!
What a gorgeous day for a ride here in So. Cal. Put a few hundred miles in and am just loving it.

I just bought the same bike in March (my 3rd monster).
Mine came with a carbon fiber beer tray that is actually kinda nice looking. I was going to chop it like my last two, but I have grown to like the look.
No links to it - but the stock part is UGLY!
A tip to clean the white rims - WD40. Splash some on a rag and all the junk will wipe right off. Do it before you wash it and then wash with your normal car soap and rinse it off. Makes it really easy. I had a few FZRs back in the day with white rims.
Using some of the Honda brand spray polish after they're clean also makes the next clean up a little easier.
Nice pics by the way! Glad you celebrated the 4th with a ride. Too hot here to do anything outside. I'm waiting for October. ;D
Yeah, those wheels are tricky to clean, especially the fronts behind those huge Brembos! I've had good luck with Simple Green and a long-handled dish brush.
I can't wait to get rid of the beer tray and the huge turn signals. I'm definitely doing the Motodynamics integrated tail light but not sure about the chop yet.
Never was a chop fan. Obviously many are. I have the shorty carbon tray with an Evoluzione plate holder. Cleaned up the rear end nicely for me. Plus I still have a nice place to set my beer when messing with the bike! ;D
CHOP THAT SHITTTT!!!!!!
Yeah, Chop it!

If you chop it, you have to shorten the cans. Looks odd when they stick out past the rear of the bike. Knock 3" off of them and it transforms the look of the chopped bike.
Probably a bit more than most people would chop, but this is what I did:

Whoa, epic, and ballsy! Which tail chop did you use? Separate mounts for the signals?
The signals mount to the bracket for the light. I don't know the brand, I bought the bike with it already done. It's real sweet though.
looks great
or if you go with under tail exhaust

I freakin love this bike. Tidied up the tail a bit. There was a metal reflector hanger that came below the license plate. I did a bit of creative bending and flipped it upside down and viola, free tail tidy.

This thread is making me want to convert to 4v..
Good news from Speedymoto today. Although they can't send me a brand new clutch pressure plate, they are letting me send back this one for new anodizing. Let's just say "Ducati Pink" didn't really match the color scheme. Problem is I don't have the stock plate, so they're sending me a loaner stocker until I get the billet one back ;D. Hooray customer service!
I've got a 07 S4Rs too....you got a pretty color scheme....I love it.
I'm in the Inland Empire but if some folks want to meet up I'm down....maybe a ride over Ortega Highway to OC, head to Cook's Corner and invade the Harley's....
