Title: Where to get oil temp sensor
Post by: The ModFather on June 26, 2011, 07:33:20 PM
I think the nipple off my oil temp sensor has broken off my 2005 Monster 620. This is how I bought the bike and the oil temp sensor cable doesnt stay on. The sensor portion attached to the cable is fine but the portion thats on the bike looks like there was a small nipple that has broken off that stuck out of the oil temp sensor that fronts the oil screen filter cover. How much for an oil temp sensor? I havent seen what it should look like when its not broken but the wire connector has nothing to attach to and the boot doesnt do shit to keep it on. When its manually pressed on it works fine but it looks like there was a piece (the proverbial nipple) on the bike that the wire hooked on to that has since been broken off. help!

Do you have the means to solder on a pigtail to the sensor?

pain in the ass part to get unless you get lucky. I got mine @ pro italia after the local shops (plural - two of them) couldn't get one for six months. The part is a thermistor. I think it was $35, but one of the shops I ordered it from charged $45. part number is 35 552.4.004.2a

good luck!

oh - this is VERY important - when you put it on, do NOT over tighten it! Use a torque wrench and only torque it to spec. That threaded body is hollow and WILL break. Don't ask how I know.  [bang]
