Starting Friday, your booze tax goes up from 6% to 9%
Of course.. it's really hard to find the tax rates in VA, so my smugness might be misplaced. But for now...
Neener!

Virginia alcohol taxes are far higher than Maryland's even with the increase.
gas/gal cigs/pk liq wine beer (alcohol taxes are PER GALLON)
Maryland $0.235 $1.00 $1.50 $0.40 $0.09
Virginia $0.175 $0.30 $14.54 $1.51 $0.26
Virginia wants you to drive and smoke
Maryland wants you to drink.. a lot..
yup.. $14.50 per gallon taxes for whisky....

that is why I am glad I work close enough to the DC line, that I can go pick up my booze before heading home if I feel the need to protest by way of my wallet.

yes, but alchohol is still cheaper because it doesn't have to go through the Montgomery County Liquor Board and purchase program 1st which takes a cut and bumps up the price before tax is added on!

At fixed photo radar sites in Monkey County, the revenue generators are going to start manually lasering in the typical pre slow down and speed the f back up areas.
I hate MC MD!

basically....patrols are set to sit in their cruisers at preplanned points either before of after the camera's to catch the violators who still are breaking the law outside of the camera zone(s) due to the accordian effect that happens and a few traffic accidents surrounding these driving tactics...
Typically people will go 50, slow down to 37 in a 35 and speed back up to 50 after they pass a "fixed/known" photo radar site. The RGs are getting sneaky by lasering folks (old school style) while they are still going 50 or speed back up to 50......
As if they were not already getting enough tax revenue from the piggy back tax, which I think is 32%. - Gene
yeah...but the difference is this...if the cop laser's your azz...no only do you get a heftier fine, but points too!!!
Ah, I thought it was some add on tech or slave system for the robo-units. I didn't think you meant LEOs staking out those areas. Got it.

Sweet Jebus, I hate it that tag. I had to re-register my ST4s after it being off the road for 11 months and that's what I got! UGggg!
What was wrong with the classic black and white with state flag? That was a classy looking tag.
