Title: CDawg's Road Game Post by: CDawg on June 29, 2011, 02:48:01 PM Good roads have traditionally been a closely guarded secret passed down like martial arts secrets. Well, I think it's time to share so here a little game:
I keep a Garmin database of the fun roads around the area. At this point I've got more roads than on my list than I have time to try out and assess. Shameful...I know. I will start by throwing out 3 potentially good road segments. You ride it and tell me if it is Scenic, Sweepers, or Twisties. If it is a mix, tell me what type is it at the beginning 1/3 and the last 1/3. Every time some one assess a road segment, I'll throw out an another one. I get to knock-down my to-dos and you get to try out and learn some new roads and maybe we will revitalize the NYMMC! Feel free to add your own favorite roads to share! Happy riding! PA Hwy 87 from Cherry Twp to PA 864 Wolf Twp In New York: CR-3 near Wawarsing Town north to where it ends into CR-28A Butts Hollow off RT-22 west to where it ends into Hwy 343 Title: Re: CDawg's Road Game Post by: thought on June 29, 2011, 08:12:01 PM i'll go and test out the pa one this weekend ;)
and i suggest that we make a google map of the ones that have been tested and sticky the link to the top of this forum... would be nice to have a central mapped out google map of everything in the area edit: actually, just checked out the distance...not sure if i'll have the time, it's about 2hrs away from where i'm staying :( Title: Re: CDawg's Road Game Post by: EvilSteve on August 01, 2011, 06:06:33 PM CR-3 near Wawarsing Town north to where it ends into CR-28A That's pretty good. Combination of twisties and sweepers. No passing zones so if you get stuck, you're either stuck... or not...A better bet would be heading a little further north on 209 and getting on to CO-2 then hitting CO-3 (towards 28a) you get great twisties on 2 and then the best bits on 3. Plus there's a load of road work going on up in the catskills at the moment, seems like every road has a nice dirt section. Wasn't a year long, just killed my account because of some drama. Found a new road up in the catskills over the weekend actually, really good value.
