Title: Tourismo 2008 Post by: Dockstrada on June 17, 2008, 12:29:36 AM Ok so im doing the tourismo 2008.
My intentions are to tow my bike to starting point and tow back to syd. I am in the process of making a 6 bike trailer. As you all know I have a large tow vehicle (not like supers festering toe ) but a F250 that seats a very comfy 5, so anyone that is interested in the idea let it be known. I have worked on the fuel costs and it will be aprox $1000 return trip 2800km ,So I can carry 8 bikes total 6 on the trailer , 2 on the back of the ute and 5 passengers on the rig so return trip would be say aprox $125 per bike return any thing less is a bonus anything more its still cheep. The other option is to sent it by transport $430 return plus your air fair. Aprox 15 hours driving to Adelaide and some good times along the way not to mention the fun on the tourismo. Would like to depart from my shop by about 4 am for an early start to arrive in Adelaide by aprox 7 or 8 pm so far the following are in. Bike and pasenger. 1)Dock 2)Matty(shotgun) 3)Rusty 4)Andy 5) Bikes Only 1) 2) 3) Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: Super T.I.B on June 17, 2008, 01:02:57 AM Ok so im doing the tourismo 2008. Is this ok or am I being Presumptuous? Thanks, R_usty Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: Dockstrada on June 17, 2008, 02:38:42 AM Yeah you know I'm up for that..... I am very envious, take lots of pics...... oh wait........ mattys going...... duh, ignore the last comment [cheeky] Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: mattyvas on June 17, 2008, 02:50:58 PM Pics of course.
We may even be on to front and rear facing video by then. But yes there will be lotsa photos taken. Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: goldFiSh on June 17, 2008, 02:52:47 PM Matty I think we should lobby NFI to commission you as an official photographer along with a few assistants - nothing like a "business trip" on the monster(s). They pay you for your work, and pay for all of our travel and tourismo costs - now I could start to convince the missus [evil]
Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: mattyvas on June 17, 2008, 03:34:07 PM Well i have there PR contact.
I'd be nice, I did see a girl out shooting photos at the NFI stand Sunday. Maybe they are sorted but I should go ask hey? You had a look at that little item you picked up over the weekend. ;) ;) When will we see it on the 620RR... Will do tonight. Yep, I had a go of putting little item on bike as soon as you dropped me off. She is a tad bent. :P Even when tightened down. Will have to cut some off the back (touches rubber) and over the chain where it hits it. Hopefully be on within the next couple of weeks, cutting belt cover at the moment. Running without any right now. ;D Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: mattyvas on June 17, 2008, 06:18:10 PM Excellent, so are you coming to Tourismo then?
Gaaa-on could be your last blast as a single fella. Bring the 620RR out for a fang across the Hills of Adelaide. There's room on the 6 bike trailer I'm sure. Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: heatherp on July 18, 2008, 01:43:01 AM Well I'm all booked for the Turismo. So is anyone riding through Vic to SA? I'm looking at riding over on the Saturday (18Oct) but will be on days off 2 days prior so I could even be talked into doing the GOR both ways whilst waiting for others to turn up. (I live at the western end)

I mean Clare to renmark is 250k max! Thank you in advance Spider Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: heatherp on July 22, 2008, 10:51:22 PM Yeah and Glenelg to Tanunda is only 80km on the main roads. Won't have any fuel worries there [laugh]. Must be a lot of vineyards to stop at inbetween. Maybe there's a comp to see how many laps ya can do?

I'll be coming over from Tassie and riding all the way and back. I'll be travelling with two other guys, one on a 900SS FE and another guy on a 900SS Superlite. We'll catch the Spirit of Tas ferry on the Thursday night and head over by the GOR. Not sure about coming back yet. I've never been to a Turismo so it should be a good one! ;D Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: Andy55 on July 27, 2008, 05:57:28 AM Vince I am intending to ride home from the Turismo. I have a brother in Melbourne so i'm going to spend a few days getting home via the coast. I will discuss it with you on saturday.

Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: heatherp on October 02, 2008, 01:47:36 AM Has anyone who is registered heard anything more about this gig? I've only had a reminder about my outstanding safety inspection. It's being held up by the fact that my bike still doesn't have a round black thingy on the back. God hope it's ready in time or I will be mighty disappointed (to say the least). HP
Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: mattyvas on October 02, 2008, 10:20:11 PM Well Heather I hope you get your wheel in time.
But I hate to say I can't go down, not enough work right now for me to take 6-7 days away. Hope you all have a great time, hope that next year I can get there. cheers Matty... Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: Spider on October 02, 2008, 11:46:42 PM Matty, do they have professional photographers at the event? You could go and take photos and then sell shots....On CD sent to their home address for a sum.
We have beautiful machines and do like to show them off! Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: mattyvas on October 03, 2008, 06:36:38 PM I am sure Sane Events have that covered in some way.
I was thinking about that and about covering it and selling it to the Mags. But I think I've left my run a little too late. I'll see what comes out of this years Tourismo and pitch something for next year. Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: Super T.I.B on October 09, 2008, 07:13:42 PM Well Heather I hope you get your wheel in time. Am I going to be the only traveller from Vic? Sorry you can't make it Matty. Sure you can't go without eating and paying bills for a week or two?. My photos will be a poor substitute if I manage to take any. Think I'll be too busy riding it's been so long since I had my bike. lol. Us monster riders may be a bit thin on the ground by the looks. Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: Andy55 on October 10, 2008, 02:32:43 AM Hey there Heather
I'm still coming down , Rusty is aswell last I heard and I think Gianni is a starter too. Any other Sydney starters on here? Andy. Title: Re: Tourismo 2008 Post by: techno on October 12, 2008, 03:37:43 PM Am I going to be the only traveller from Vic? I'll be coming over from Tas. Your most welcome to join us. If your keen, PM me and I'll tell you our route and proposed stops for the night. This is defn the long way over but should be worth it. Like Techno, I was having way too much fun riding to be taking pics. Hope all the people that did take pics post somewhere eventually. Keith Muir's site is http://www.bike-photos.com/index.asp (http://www.bike-photos.com/index.asp). He said he will try to get them up by the end of this week. Some of the better ones will be posted on the Ducati site. And they will also be going to the bike mags. Cheers Heather |
